Voting Question: Routers - basic connection?

Hello, I am trying to connect and configure two Cisco 1721 routers together using a crossover cable from E0 to E0 but no matter what I do I get "line protocol is down". I have verified that both are using the same encapsulation types with show ip int brief. Below are the configs. I thought this would be simple but apparently not :( Anyone have any advice? (PS I pruned the configs to show only relative lines) RouterA#show run Building configuration... ! interface Ethernet0 ip address 10.0.0.2 255.0.0.0 half-duplex ! interface FastEthernet0 no ip address shutdown speed auto ----------------------------------------------------- RouterC#show run Building configuration... ! interface Ethernet0 ip address 10.0.0.1 255.0.0.0 half-duplex ! interface FastEthernet0 no ip address shutdown speed auto RouterC#show ip int brief Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol Ethernet0 10.0.0.1 YES manual up down FastEthernet0 unassigned YES manual administratively down down Also, I am getting this message.. could it just be a bad cable? %PQUICC_ETHER-1-LOSTCARR : Unit [dec], lost carrier. Transceiver problem? Explanation The Ethernet 10BASE-T cable is unplugged. Recommended Action Reconnect the 10BASE-T Ethernet cable.  more

Resolved Question: I have finally figured out how to get into the Cisco router. The problem I'm having is rebooting it.?

Can anyone tell me what command is used to reboot a router when it's down? I'm still learning about this and I need to know how to do this for my job. We provide tech support for various hotels and every once in a while their network goes down and we have to reboot the router remotely. Any help will be greatly appreciated. It's a Cisco 1721.  more

Resolved Question: How can I simulate a wide area network serial connection using two 1721 Cisco routers?

I have two 1721 modular cisco routers, with Cisco T1 DSU/CSU WAN Interface Cards. Is there a way that I can simulate a back to back connection like it is often done with 2500 series routers and dte/dce cables?  more

Resolved Question: Need to set up Cisco 1721 on Bridge mode (passthrough Mode)?

We are switching from a Frame connection to a regular T1 line with a different company but it has a VPN device in between and would like to use my 1721 since it has a CSU/DSU conection. What are the settings for the Cisco Router to passthrough to my VPN device, so I can still use the DHCP, and all the other settings from my servers?  more

Resolved Question: How can I bypass password on 1721 cisco router? I don't get a cmd prompt to reset.?

I obtained this router from scrap. Im using hyperterminal to access it . The router boots but it prompts me to enter a password which I dont know. I read some documentation from cisco systems where they explain a process but I am not getting a command prompt to enter the commands explained in the documentation  more
