Resolved Question: Best DDoS course? Cisco Guard?

I work with firewalls on a daily basis and have an appreciation of DDoS attacks and mitigation techniques, however as a firewall engineer, DDoS is not a subject that it looked at extensively in your typical firewall courses. Could somebody please recommend a good course that teaches about everything DDoS, to give you DDoS guru credibility! Somebody recommended me to go on the "Mitigating DDoS Using Cisco Guard & Traffic Anomaly Detector" course, but I've heard that Cisco Guard is soon to be pulled out of the market and the course really only teaches how to configure cisco guard and does not really cover the concepts of the type of attacks and mitigations Any suggestions? Voting Question: Should I go to university and get a degree or apply for apprenticeship or take a course for certification?

Im a student studying computer science at kings college london. Started at 2007 to graduate at 2010 but due to family issues have been set back and so am still in 2nd year. However i'm no longer interested in the course and currently thinking about my various options. I've been into computers and related fields since I was about 8 years old and happen to be very good at such topics so I know I still want to be in this field. I've come to the conclusion that i'd like to eventually start a business of my own so right now I need to know what would be most appropriate for me. On the one hand I could study something like computer engineering or software engineering, but perhaps thats too "technical" and less business orientated? Maybe an IT degree would be better? While I have a lot to learn I am very competent at what I do know (building computers, configuring software, programming Java and C#, networking including making my own wired home server cutting CAT5e cables, heck i've even replaced my home telephone wiring with CAT5e cables! Also gotten into satellite technology as well). The problem is I have no clue about business such as marketing, finance etc so maybe a business degree is what I need? On the other hand I could just drop uni altogether and apply for some kind of apprenticeship, or else take some courses to get certified in Cisco or Microsoft? So yeah, does anyone have any experience/suggestions/advice on this topic? I need to decide soon since UCAS deadline is approaching! Thanks! I appreciate people telling me to stick to uni, which i dont mind, however as said, if i go to uni it would have to be a different uni in a different course since this course is just not right for me. So for all those who say I should stick to uni which course do you think is most appropriate? (in computing field with eventual goal of starting a business) more

I was configuring Cisco switches, one as a server and others as clients. but I have got some confusions::: 1.) when I make any new Vlan on server it is automatically made on all clients ............... thats good.........ok..............but when I add perticular interfaces to any Vlan in Server the membership is NOT copied to the clients!!! It means only Vlans are getting copied but not the interface membership information. I have configure VTP domain correctly and Trunking as well. Please tell me what to do on server or clients to make them copy Vlan membership of interfaces as well??? more

Hi every body, Hope you can help me out from this weird problem. I would like to install a new IOS on my CISCO 3640 router, but the problem I am facing, the router is not get into the rommonitor or boot from nvram or flash or any where i can write some command. Resolved Question: Serial interfaces are no coming up on Cisco router 2501?

Im trying to to set up cisco routers (2500 series) for CCNA studies but due to some reasons the serial interface s0/s1 are not coming up. Before assigning ip address ,clockrate at DCE interface and no shutdown commands the show interface command says the following: Serial0 is administratively down, line protocol is down Hardware is HD64570...... And after ip address,clockrate,no shutdown command , show interface reads like Serial0 is down, line protocol is down........ show controller command does not show the type (DTE or DCE) interface.(as it shows in simulator) I changed the cables changed the routers (I have four) , reload the routers, even set back every thing to default factory default settings but nothing works. One thing I noticed that the led were off on all seria interfaces on all four routers but ethernet leds were flickering. Your professional advice/help would be highly appericiated. I am looking to set up my home office and interested in getting a Cisco IP phone (like the Cisco 7940G IP Phone) to use on sipgate (SIP protocol). Is it am simple as buying the Cisco phone over the net (thinking of buying this one from ebuyer: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/97297 ) , hooking up to my cable broadband router and configuring with sipgate, and away I go .... or do I have to buy anything special like expensive licenses, expensive power adapters, etc. I am pretty new to all this so advice with more experienced people within the world of IP telephony would be greatly appreciated (along with any recommnedations for a good multi SIP account IP phone). I believe i need a Gigastack GBIC Connector to connect both 3550's together but what do i do then? How do i configure them? surely it's not as simply as plug and play?
