Parrot Beak Questions and Answers
Resolved Question: Male or Female Moustached Parakeet?
I have adopted a little Moustached Parakeet and I was wondering if there is any way to tell if it's a male or a female? "She" has an orange beak, and the black markings on her neck and 'nose'. She is also a bit bitey (which makes me think she might be a girl, based on my knowledge of parrots) and seems to want to chew everything. moreResolved Question: Can my cockatiel play with my blue-fronted amazon parrot?
Ok. My cockatiel is in love with my amazon! He whistles to her, tries to get closer and tries to sit beside her. My amazon really wants to play and is very curious too. She calmly reaches over to try and groom him, but i'm afraid because my amazon is, well, an amazon! her beak is as big as his head! Anyways, they seem to both like eachother, and it would be great if i had your oppinion for this. THANX! PS: i'm almost positive that my cockatiel is a boy, and i think my amazon is a girl, if that make a difference :) moreResolved Question: Issues with breeding hybrid parrots?
I recently read online something that I doubt was true, but I'd like some second opinions. It was an argument against the hybridization of birds, namely macaws, saying that it is unethical because in the process of cross-breeding different types of macaws, some babies are born with serious defects, such as missing a beak. Has anyone else ever heard of this? I haven't, and I assume it was a rumor made up to fight hybridization, but I wanted to ask and see if anyone knew anything. moreResolved Question: The Rare Pink Jack Dempsey. Pics included?
Not really haha.... I was just wondering why my Dempsey has a pink hue to him. Ive never seen one with any red in it at all, but he is a pink. About 4in. Is this natural or do i have some mutant hybrid freak fish. Haha either way hes still my baby. Maybe crossbred with flowerhorn or red devil because he does have a little bit of parrot beak face and a little bit of a nuchal hump growing. hmmmmm http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g235/llmarshll/IMG_1741.jpg moreResolved Question: I have an old Amazon parrot, and he has been bleeding from his nose every day, even after cleaning.?
He's about 28, and every day I clean his nose out gently since there is a lot of blood clogging it. Should I seek medical attention immediately? And is his condition possibly contagious to my other parrots? (He is old and has little balance, so he falls very often on his beak.) moreResolved Question: My parrot broke the tip of his beak what should I do?
I have had my parrot for about 10 years and nothing like this has happend before. I woke up this morning and seen that his drinking water was red and there were little spots of blood on his sticks. I looked at him and seen that there is a tiny piece of the tip of his beak that is missing. It doesn't look bad but there is a small amount of blood dripping from the tip of his top beak. It doesn't look like he is in pain or anything and seems to be acting normal. I'm just wondering what I should do, I'm short on money and I'm not sure if I can afford taking him to the vet. The injury doesn't seem severe, but I'm a bit worried about him. Any suggestions? moreResolved Question: Help! my Dove got attacked by my parrot and now his beak is bleeding? is it broken? What should I do?
He is just sitting in the corner of the cage with his feathers fluffed up. He won't make noises like he used to. I can't really take him to the vet because it is too cold outside. I don't know what to do? moreResolved Question: African Grey biting repeatedly?
Okay, so I recently moved in with some family members, and they have two parrots, one of which is an African Grey. I don't claim to know a lot about birds, and looking online for a solution has proved fruitless. She has a habit of getting off her cage, and when I'm alone in the living room, she'll crawl down her cage, and walk over to me. She'll tongue at my fingers and let me pick her up and sometimes pet her beak, and then she'll act like she's going to tongue my fingers again but she'll bite down, hard enough to draw blood and scar. I try to pick her up with a stick now, since it really hurts when she beaks me, but I'd rather be able to hold her without being worried she's going to bite me. She doesn't seem like she's scared, her eyes stay the same and she doesn't shrink her feathers or puff them out, or make a chirpy scared noise. So how do I correct this behavior? moreResolved Question: RHH:My 2 favorite verses from Melatonin Magik?
Obviously not all of you have heard the new album by canibus, so ill post 2 of my favorite verses SO FAR(alot of diggin to do to figure out his rhymes). The point of this is to show you what to expect lyrically from him, although these arent the most lyrical out of the album. 1. the appetite of megaladon pumpin steroids in his arm his upper torso is bigger than yours brave men will die, women will cry over the genocide but dont cry, dry, your eye my left brain 20 percent my right brain is more than that my petiuitary gland is on crack thats why they barely understand where im at and why i rap they say its wack its not wise to react whys that? cuz conciously im black, subconciously im darker than that the most controversial artist in rap when i step with my lyrics i force them to fall back i was wounded in combat and still crawled back do it right the first time i dont have to ever do it again unless i rehearse it again and again rotating floatin spheres like clockwork rotatin gears counter clockwise colating what you hear over here, dont repeat what you heard just remember what you learned remember the last time you got burned qualitative analysis is not enough to quantify canibus but do it live if you think you can handle this 2. been a ?? pharoah, the 3000 year old scarecrow will hang you from the nose on a spare pole the switchface rockbeast with swamp croc teeth and a two headed parrot with a desert fatigue beak step out the depths of hell exhale septic smells decorate my b*tch breasts with bells my octopi tentacles controlled by mental vegetables calculated corrected to down to the decimal spectacles of doom and gloom and sonic booms republicans ride brooms around nuclear mushrooms you a secret to nuclear fallout now you gunna crawl out to the hands of a monster now the best emcee turned his launch codes over to me and my command to return the key we'll see you know nothing of discipline you can never go where the rippers been the maze in those caves are infinite RHH2:Since noone answered this question on my review of the album ill ask it again: Is Ras Kass' Soul On Ice one of the most overlooked album in terms of its subject matter and its importance to the new age 'concious' rappers? IMO this album spits more knowledge than any other. If its not, what album has the most 'knowledge'? @DP, i dont have a link, i bought it... moreResolved Question: What's going on with my cockatiels?(possible pregnancy)?
My male and female cockatiel parrots have been mating for a couple of months now, but recently they stopped, and have started to act more romantic. The male one keeps on feeding the female, like, sticking his beak in, and she's eating whatever he's giving her. I find this confusing, because from what I've been reading, females should try to feed males. But for sure, my male is a male.Due to the fact that he can sing and has a brighter shade, and is more dominant. The female is giving wetter droppings, and when I let them both out they tend to hide in dark corners/areas.(assuming they are in search for a nest.) I sometimes find my male sitting in the birdfood, which is sort of weird. I tried googling but nothing has my situation. Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on?? moreVoting Question: Parrot--broken beak & clipped wings?
My 5 year old quaker parrot flew into a window today and broke off about 1/2 of his upper mandible. I took him to the vet to check everything over, and we got some pain meds and antibiotic. While I was there, I also decided to have his wings clipped for the first time in about 3 years. He's obviously traumatized from this experience and doesn't understand why he can't fly--and he keeps trying to fly--I'm closely monitoring this, helping him get used to this new life he has. He's also nibbling on a soft oats/pellets/vegetable mix, but I'm not really sure how much he's actually eating--the pointy part of his beak is gone, so he can't really tear into his food anymore. So, 2 questions--hoping someone can share their experience with one or both of these massive lifestyle changes for my bird (and self). For anyone who's clipped the wings of a long-time free flighted bird--how long did it take for your bird to adapt to the changes? What was the transition period like? For anyone who has experience with a broken beak--the vet said it looks like it will grow back, but I didn't think to ask how long it might take--about 1/2 his upper beak is missing. Any estimates on how long this might take? Any suggestions on how to monitor food intake besides just paying attention to his playing/energy level? Thanks! I'd rather not hear suggestions about keeping my bird clipped for safety, etc...I prefer free-flighted birds--and that will remain my personal choice. I'm just looking for similar stories to compare with to help get through this stinky situation. Thanks. moreResolved Question: information regarding african gray?
i have an african gray, the problem with him is that he dont scream alot even in its own parrot language i m nt sure about its age hes i guess 6months old and still dont have feathers under its beak will he realy talk?????? n Mimic?????? m worried moreResolved Question: Please tell me if my english coursework is good/bad and what i can doo to add to it, thanks :)?
That’s him sitting under the tree, stealing the only shade in this barren dustbowl; as selfish as ever. In his own little world he is of course the greatest man to have ever lived, not hard when you’re the first. He said I was made for him, to serve and to love him; I could never love such an insolent jerk. Whilst I struggle to find a single silver droplet of water beneath this blazing sun he slumbers in the shade. Never letting me forget that I am here because of him, he made me what I am and without him I would be nothing but just a piece of dirt underneath his foot. I couldn’t take it; I couldn’t bear him any longer. Even paradise could not atone for his pure arrogance. The exquisite ripples of golden light would illuminate the morning sky and the delicate songs of canaries, parrots and peacocks filled the air with the melodies of spring. Even the aureate feathers and coral beaks of fantailed doves could not make me forget the bitter poison seeping through the skin of that bastard. Beauty was to be found behind every tree, under every leaf as if summer was to last forever, our home was a sanctuary created by the ultimate designer. But it was never enough. Then it spoke to me, slithering along the silvery stream, suggesting the perfect plan. I knew it could not be trusted but it was certainly clever; all it would take was him to taste just one tiny forbidden mouthful of the juicy flesh and he would be gone. Never again would I have to deal with his incessant, vainglorious boasting. I knew he would take it; blinded by greed he could not resist the sweet aroma of the succulent fruit, but neither could I. Just one delectable bite, that was all that I wanted; to taste the alluring fruit. Enthralled by its beauty, I held it in my hand as the curiosity raced through my body. Never before had I seen such a delicate, exquisite food painted with such vivid colours. My teeth pierced its The gardens of exotic flowers and fruitful trees, perfectly arranged now replaced by a jungle of overgrown, dead plants tangled into a withered maze. The earth dried and desolate, the sky grey, covered in a ghostly veil. Here the vivid green leaves fade into those of rust and scarlet, turning bitterly crisp before they come tumbling down, drowning in the oceans of orange. Brown, faded by the summer's last sun, no verdure or sparkling pools to be found but tangled webs of spiders and overgrown weeds like the confusion clouding my mind. Btw its about adam and eve moreResolved Question: i have 2 quaker parrots plz need help!!!?

I was always told that i have a red capped parrot. However when i look at pictures of them she looks nothing like that. She is all green, has a little spot of yellow on the edge of each wing, tan beak, and a bright red head/crown. moreResolved Question: What kind of Parrot is this (It could be anything!)?
My friend was given this parrot that I have personally seen and want it identified. She is planning on giving it to us but we have no idea what it is. (We know how to take care parrots because we have two Sun Conures and Two Budgies) Anyways down to the description. The Parrot is roughly around the size of a Green Cheek Conure or a Cockatiel. The parrot is mainly green, but I think it has parts of turquoise in it's tail. It also has two red spots on its back near the upper parts of the wings (Not on the wing, near the top of them on the back). It has a yellow ring around it's neck, and it's head is black/grey with a mostly yellow beak (It has a black spot on the bottom part.) The belly of the parrot is a lighter shade of green. moreResolved Question: What kind of Parrot is this (I dont think I'll ever get an answer)?

Hello, I bought a male sky blue Indian Ringneck parrot 3 days ago from a breeder, and named him Zephyr. He is still very young, I'm not sure exactly how many weeks/months old he is. His wings were already clipped when I got him (only one wing). I know it's only been 3 days, but he is very timid, he is always trying to get as far away from me as possible unless I have food in my hand. He will sit on my finger if I put it under his chest, but doesn't seem like he wants too, and he will walk up my arm, onto my shoulder and then climb up my hair until he is on my head, but I think he does it because he doesn't want to be anywhere near my hands. If I put my hands in his cage he does everything he can to get away from them, but outside of his cage he isn't as bad, he will walk away but he doesn't flap about like he does inside the cage. He doesn't seem to mind me giving him kisses on the beak, he will sometimes kiss back. Also I have never heard him chirp, whistle or make any loud sound and I've heard they are supposed to be very noisy birds, does this mean he is scared? If I hold him to my ear sometimes I hear him making a really soft sound that sounds like a whimpering dog, does that mean he is sad? So far he loves broccoli, carrot, sugar snap peas and mixed bird seeds. He has eaten this every day except for the broccoli which he first tried today, should I be giving him any of these only as treats when he needs to be rewarded or is it okay for him to eat these and other fruits and veg every day? Also I have read that they can eat chicken and boiled eggs... I don't eat meat, and rarely have any in my house, is it necessary for him to do so or can he be healthy without it? And one last question, lol sorry this has gone on for ages, he has a very short tail, and it looks a bit rough on the ends like some other bird had bitten it off. It seems like he doesn't have very good balance because of this. Is his tail short because he is a baby and it hasn't grown long yet? Or is it more likely that it was bitten off by one of the breeders other birds, and could that contribute to why he is so scared all the time? moreResolved Question: Cats: Declawing Vs. Keeping claws clipped?
I have a new cat and, like every cat, she likes to use her claws for everything. she is going to start using the furniture as her scratching posts sooner or later, and i want to prevent her damaging the furniture. I am really opposed to declawing a cat; i feel that it would be like removing a dog's nose or a parrot's beak; animals are born with special attributes that they rely on and i think it is very unfair to take them away. Anyways, i am totally willing to do what it takes to keep my kitty from tearing up the house, but i need to know how. Will simply trimming the nails be a good answer to the problem? moreResolved Question: Baby Alexandrian parrot got skin disease?
I bought a baby alexandrian parrot two weeks back from a local breeder(was one month old then per the breeder). The baby was healthy for the first week and we were feeding gauva, and banana along with some protein powder. After a week the feathers started to come out and we noticed the chest region had no feathers left and the skin was clearly visible. Today I took him to the Vet and he said it was skin infection and nothing serious. We gave him some medicines as prescribed and applied a powder. Today evening he got even worse... the area above the beak which covers the nostrils are in different color and he is not taking any food. I don't know what to do. Is this a serious illness or just a normal infection that can be easily cured. He is hand feed daily. Appreciate your reply. moreResolved Question: What kind of parrot is this? (No photo)?
Somebody I know was given a parrot, but doesn't know what type it is. I tried googling it but never seen anything similar. It's yellow, approximately the size of a rainbow lorakeet with a pinkish, orange beak and the same colour is in the rings around its eyes. In Australia. Any suggestions would be appreciated. moreResolved Question: Young Scaly Lorikeet, possibly injured?
Just found a juvenile Scaly Lorikeet wandering down my street. Not sure if he's seriously injured or not, he seems to have a tender right wing though. He seems fully feathered, but his beak is still dark brown at the tip. He's been in the (rather large) spare cage, separated from the rest of my parrots. I've no experience with Lorikeets, but I am currently caring for two eclectus and various other breeds of parrots, so I do have some experience with birds in general. I have got store bought baby bird formula, but I'm not sure if that's suitable for a lorikeet...? He's been licking apple from my hand, but not chewing or anything... he's got seed and a few Grevillea flowers in with him, and I think he's been eating from the flowers. Is there anything in particular I should be doing for him or have I got it all? Can I put some of the made up baby bird formula into a bowl for him or is it bad for him? I'm going to try and rehabilitate him until he's ready to fly off. We've done it with quite a few birds. moreResolved Question: Any vets in ohio that will look at my bird?!?! I know it's long; but please read.?
I recently acquired a Quaker parrot who I was told has Fatty Liver disease. I don't really know anything about the disease; but I did know that basically all you could do was change his diet and give exercise. Now; I was also told he came from an abused home. His lower mandible is cracked and to the side almost..And his upper is kinda long; even though he just got it trimmed. BUT; who I got him from told me that this was because of Fatty Liver; not abuse..But I'm not so sure anymore because his toenails and beak are not growing back very fast at all. She told me that they'd start growing in about a month again..It's been a month and he looks fine. So I'm starting to question whether he even has Fatty Liver. But my big problem is; I need a vet that has the ability to test for it. And there aren't a lot of those in Ohio. Could someone maybe give me some advice? I've called every vet in my phone book and nobody will look at him. I called Dr. Riggs..And they told me exactly this "Well, we have someone who knows all about the disease, but he won't sit down and talk to you about it on the phone. You need to make an appointment." And I thought that was sort of rude to do.. He could at least tell me if they can test for it. Anyway; if someone could give me a list of vets that will look at him; that would be great. Or if someone could call their vet that looks at their birds and ask them what they think; that would be nice, too. Or at least tell me what I can do for him. Thank you! I've had quakers, I just never had one with this disease. moreVoting Question: African Grey parrot help please.?
Hi, i got an African Grey parrot today and it is to scared to let me pet it. When i try to put my hand close to him, he moves away. Ive been able to touch his beak a few times. Sometimes it nibbles on my finger but it doesn't hurt at all. My parrot is 8 months old. If anyone can give me a few tips on showing that i don't want to hurt him, and to make him friendly, please do. Thanks. moreResolved Question: How much of a parrot's claw should you file?
I'm having concerns with my conure. His claws are really long and I try filing them. Everything is alright and then he suddenly starts yelping in small screams, I end up stopping. Also help with his beak, it has some scratches/cracks on it and I'm wondering if this is normal for a parrot beak, and how could you know if the beak is overgrown or normal? I'm still unsure about his gender too,He's a Blue Crowned Conure, so pictures of a female and a male would help, thanks! moreResolved Question: Do girls find guys with big noses attractive?
I have a huge nose shaped like a parrot's beak and to make it even worse there's a mole on top of it that looks like a fly that got stuck there. I am not really good looking, but I'm not ugly either, I'm probably a little above average on looks. But I'm thinking of removing the mole with surgery and doing my nose too because girls have been too shallow with me and maybe this will fix it. moreResolved Question: What type of bird is this?
I saw this bird in my back yard. It is certainly an escaped exotic species but I am unable to find out what it is and I'm an avid birdwatcher. On to the description... The bird was blue with a white breast, 20 to 30 inches from its blue crest to a split tail. I would have called it a hyacinth macaw except for the white breast and the split tail. It was at least that size. I only saw it from the front and the base of the tail was white and it looked like only the lower half of the tail was split and blue. The beak was black and shaped like a parrots'. Any help is appreciated. 10 points on the line. And any websites that list exotic birds with pictures and searchable databases will do just fine. I'm in Los Angeles and I already know all the local, wild species. Thanks for your help. moreResolved Question: Is this Parrot joke a turkey trot?
This parishioner decides to buy his parish priest a parrot to keep him company. The priest is very happy with the gift until the parrot starts to speak. Every word is a swear word, effing and blinding non stop. The priest is a bit mortified at first and tries to hush the parrot up but doesn't succeed (neither does the parrot, he splits them with his beak). He tries to play it smooth classics to calm it down, he tries sedatives mixed with its water and whisky as well. The parrot keeps on swearing. Three days later he receives a telephone call from the bishop saying he is in town and will be popping in to see him. The priest decides he will have to think of somewhere to put the parrot whilst the bishop visits. Just then there is knock on the door so the priest puts the parrot in the nearest place, which happens to be the freezer, and then goes to open the door for the bishop. The bishop stays for two hours by which time the priest is quite worried about the parrot and as soon as he closes the door on the Bishop he gets the parrot out of the freezer. The parrot seems to be ok much to his relief and as the parrot recovers it starts to speak. The priest is most stunned when the parrot apologises for his past behaviour and promises to keep a civil tongue in head from now on. The priest is thrilled and accepts the apology and says he will look after him well. The Parrot cocks its head to one side and says," Can I ask you a question that allows me one last swearword?" Ok so i have a Pionus Maximilian. He is now 2 years old. I got him when he was very little, so hes used to my family and I. For the last year hes changed alot. He became more agressive. By this i mean he bites and gets angry more. I try to hit his beak after he bites, but that just makes it worst :(. My dad said to lock him up in the cage, so I did. I kept him in there for a couple of hours but he gets even more mad when i unlock him. are there any methods to stop him from biting me so much? He will bite me twice a day and its getting worst. moreResolved Question: Do you think parrots can talk or just mimic?
It bothers me to hear so many of you say that parrots just mimic. My African Grey parrot definitely communicates. She absolutely knows what the word no means and uses what is known as appropriate language. She flies onto my shoulder and asks "Can I have a kiss?" and then making a smacking noise presses her beak against my cheek. Okay, she doesn't have lips, so I suppose some of you think she can't kiss either. Why is is that humans believe we've cornered the market on language skills? My AG speaks more clearly and concisely than some people I know. If she's flying around the house and I tell her to go to her perch, she does. This morning I had to leave the house so I put her in her cage. She indignantly said "You can't do that! I wanna come out" Tell me she doesn't know what she's saying. moreVoting Question: African Greys biting?
I love all animals, and I've owned many, hamsters, guinea pigs (bred), rabbits (currently breeding), dogs, cats, horses, fish, canaries, budgies. We used to have a parrot but I can't remember him, he was a Mccaw...Well my dads getting an African Grey very soon but I'm quite nervous around parrots, fine around everything else. I just feel so scared if they bite me...And I'm so cautious. I don't wanna' be like that. I was in the petshop the other day and this man owned an Amazon, and I asked if it bit him and he nodded, then the parrot bit his thumb and he playfully shook it while he rubbed his head...I mean doesn't it hurt? I think I've been scared ever since this parrot (with a VERY over grown sharp beak) tried biting me. I completely jumped. He's getting hand reared ones... moreResolved Question: Am I model material [Serious Question]?
I was watching Tyra Banks and she was talking about how to be a model, you cant be like cute or anything like they denied this girl because she was "too cute" She said to be a model, you have to have something weird about yur face, like a strong nose or chin or cheekbones or something so i thought, why not? maybe i could model Well.. Im 15, 5'8 [somewhat tall] and pretty thin Long/oval face My eyes are dark brown and fairly large my skin is sorta tan my dark brown hair is really long and my nose is sorta big, not like a parrot beak i guess but everyone i asked said it suited my facial features Do you think i could be a model based on that? I've really wanted an African Grey Parrot, for a REALLY long time. I have done tons of reading and studying up on it, but obviously that won't be enough to just go out and buy one. So how should I go about getting more experience before I buy one? I have had small parakeets in the past, so I know basic bird care. I don't intend on buying another, easier bird as a stepping stone.... I can't really care for more than just one bird, so I don't want anything other than the African Grey. And, what are the major differences between a Timneh and a Congo? Aren't Congo's more intelligent, typically? Is that it, besides some minor cosmetic differences (I've noticed a beak coloring difference, and the tail feathers)? moreResolved Question: i need to find out what type of parrot i have?

I have a 15 year old Quaker Parrot. Recently his beak looked a little discolored and was growing too long so I took him to the vet and the vet said we should get him a diet supplement to help his beak. When I went to the pet store the bird guy there insisted that rather than buy the supplement, I just buy this special food that is 99% seeds. He seemed pretty genuine, he said that in the wild birds don't need supplements because they get the nutrients they need from seeds. That makes sense, but I've also heard that feeding pet birds too many seeds can be bad because they are very fatty. Anyone have any input on this? moreResolved Question: A poem about parrots that escaped from the pet store?
The cages broke, the birds ran free, from the pet store to the beach. Now with sorrow, once with glee, plucking feathers with their beaks. Parrots baking in the sun, with short legs, its hard to run. On the sand, so hot and dry, they scurry slow and let out cries. Squawking, mocking, sizzling skillet, searching for a grain of millet. With clipped wings, flight undone, by other birds, they are shunned. Once so graceful, once so pure, for their problems there is no cure. Four-toed-feet slowly burning, small ant bites can be unnerving. For relief, they are yearning, their empty stomachs softly churning. Ants climb up, to take a bite, parrots put up little fight. Until one parrot had a thought, that could be the money shot. With desperation, they go to shore, the sea the bull thats soon to gore. Marionettes, with no sword are subject to a death, no morn. Like a diver deprived of air, they find again, more despair. Their feet cool down, in comes a sound, impending doom, they're soon to drown. The ants float up, confused and tired, the war was over, no shots were fired. Waves crash the shore, twelve or more, will be picked off, like cold sores. They loose control, in slow, sad, stages, get swept out to sea, in the nautical rages. At first they float, rainbows on water, the cold salty sea brings about slaughter. They tumble and turn, like a shirt in the dryer, tie-dyed and bright, but no one admires. Kids on the beach point and stare, but for their lives, no one cares. They gargle and choke, bloat and bubble, afloat by the waves of trouble. With black ink, they loose their luster, with ten squids who were quite flustered. Right before the birds float, perished, they became crows, no colors cherished. Black and greasy, they soon find, that the world outside is not so kind. moreResolved Question: what kind of bird is this?

i've just moved in with my mum and she's got an african grey parrot who's about 6 or 7 years old. the bird is talkative and loves attention, but only men are allowed to touch him or her. if my mum or i go near the cage, he seems on his guard, although we're both soft spoken and gentle with him. i've been spending a lot of time in the room with him for the past two weeks, and i've noticed he gets extremely talkative (not loud, but talkative) around 3-5am when i'm the only one awake. i usually cover his cage if its chilly in the room, or if i'm leaving a light on, but its been warm lately and i don't like to close him in his cage, so i've just been leaving his door open so he can sit on top and play with his toys. we've been talking back and forth around this time every night, but my back is to him and as soon as i turn around he stops talking and making noise. i talk to him in a low, nice voice and he just walks around, looks at me, laughs, and dances. but sometimes he gets really still and he just watches me. anyways, tonight he did something i've never seen him do. he's fairly loud and he snaps at people who try to get into his cage, but tonight i walked over and talked to him in a low voice, saying 'pretty bird' (seems to be one of his favorites) and 'hello love'. he loves kisses, so i kissed him whenever he stuck his beak towards me slowly, and i continued to tell him that he was a good bird for being gentle. then, he started making these odd whimpering sounds. they were really low and gentle, not like sharp clucks but what i'm assuming a baby bird sounds like. he almost sounded like a puppy (when they try to 'talk'). it was just short, gentle clucking noises. and then he began to squat and put his feathers out, but not in the way he/she does when feeling intimidated. it kind of looked the way someone looks when they've got their hands on their hips, if that makes any sense at all. i kept talking to him and telling him what a pretty bird he was, and then he started twisting his head up and sideways slowly, and walking around in a complete circle while making the soft clucking noises. sorry for the novel, but i'm just curious as to what all of this means, since it's different than his day to day behavior. thanks in advance for any information :) moreResolved Question: Help with Quaker Parrot behavior?
