How to trim the fat from the restaurant bill - Vancouver Sun

Open Question: is there a website that provides free customer reviews of electronics?

I need to buy a PC-MCIA card and want to know which one has the best performance/value, before I spend the money. I'm looking for a FREE "Consumer Reports" type website to help me make my decision.  more

Resolved Question: Looking for a new pet hair vacuum?

Now that my tax refund has found its way into my bank account, I'm off to buy one of the things I need: a new vaccum cleaner. One of the changes since the last time I bought one is that I now have a Maine Coone. She's shedding her long fur, which is driving me crazy. I've been looking for a good vacuum for her long hairs. I've read many, many product reviews and consumer reports online, and I've been using these to help decide what to purchase. However, people who make it a point to post a review are generally in two camps: those who love their new product, and those who hate their new product. The majority of people in the middle are the ones who don't bother posting a review. So, if those here who are simultaneously unimpressed, but still pleased, with their purchase could help me out, I'd appreciate it. In your answer, please let me know what sort of vacuum you have, your overall "contentedness" with the vacuum, and any pros and cons you might wish to share. Weather permitting, I'm going to be driving around my hometown to see what's for sale and what the prices are like this weekend, and hope to make my purchase next week. Wish me luck! GodLuvr - No, I'd prefer an upright.  more

Resolved Question: Looking for a compact/mid-size SUV with moderate off-pavement capabilities and with excellent reliability?

I've been looking around for a 2006-2007 (preferably otherwise also willing to get new) vehicle for an everyday car but also for my fishing and camping pursuits. Any ideas which vehicle would fit the bill. After reading reviews, I've found the following to be contenders, but with some cons. 1) Honda CR-V 4wd 2007. Pros: good interior. Cons: no mention of any soft-roading/off-pavement capability. Also, looks like a soccer mom car. 2) Subaru Forester (base) 2009-2010 - Pros: good off-pavement reviews, like the shape. Cons: lots of rattling reports, lack of 5th gear in auto. transmission. Very plain interior. Slow acceleration. 3) Toyota Rav4 V6 2006-2007 - Pros: Great acceleration, good fuel consumption even with V6. Cons: I've been reading some mechanical problems in consumer reviews. Along with a AWD (not looking for low range gears), the greatest requirement is reliability! Any suggestions? Thank you for your replies in advance!  more

Resolved Question: I need advice on a natural gas water heater?

I had a Whirlpool that gave out ofter two and a half years. I got a cred it at Lowes for the current full price, but decided to buy elsewhere since 96 out of 98 reviews were a 1 star and everyone is or has had the same problems. I had a Rheem put in and after 4 trips out I am still getting not enough hot water that I need to turn my cold on. They wanted to come replace more parts, and when I asked for a new unit they said they just want to come get it and let me buy another brand. I want a good brand that will not only last, but will give me hot water when we need it. I looked all over the internet and couldn't find much information from places like consumer reports, etc. I would appreciate any suggestions or stories about good or bad experiences with natural gas water heaters? I have the water heater set at the factory setting which Rheem recommended when I called. The company who installed it told me to put in on the next to the highest setting, but Rheem said that is way too hot and would scald me at 140 degrees. Even at that setting, which the installer tried, I didn't get very much hot water and it gave out before she could take her shower. I had heard AO Smith, but the place I got this one at said they stopped due to problems. And, a lot of articles on the internet gave Bradford White bad rating. Although the Whirlpool gave out, it was great up until it did. I guess it is too much to expect that. The place I got it at offered to come replace more parts, but I am not comfortable with a week old unit that is continually breaking down or needed a part replaced.  more

Voting Question: Should I buy a Chrysler Sebring (07-Present)?

I really like the styling of the new updated Sebring. I know a couple of people who have bought the car and so far they had no problems with the car. But according to the reviews even consumer reports says that the reliability of the sebring is really below average. Also a couple of articles claims that it is the weakest car in chrysler's line up. I really like it, its also affordable especially for the used one. And I heard they were gonna stop the production of the sebring, I don't know if that is true though. So I want your advice if I should buy the Sebring of not. And if not, what car should I buy instead.  more

Resolved Question: I recently got denied for a credit card, they said I can request the credit report, who do I request it from?

they put: You have a right under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to know the information contained in your credit file at the consumer reporting agency. The reporting agency played no part in our decision and is unable to supply the specific reasons why we have denied credit to you. Free copy of your credit report We encourage you to review your credit report for accuracy. You also have a right to a free copy of your credit report from the consumer reporting agency, if you request it no later than 60 days after you receive this notice. In addition, if you find that any information contained in the report you receive is inaccurate or incomplete, you have a right to dispute the matter with the reporting agency. Who do I request my credit report from? and How?  more

Resolved Question: Nissan Xterra - offroading - opinions?

Why are they constructed with so much cheap plastic material, cloth interior and so forth yet cost nearly $30k? Other than that quirk (which I could live with if the Xterra is marvelous for offroading), I read so many great reviews on them. I've only driven a 2000 model for maybe the length of a parking lot, so I'm very unfamiliar with them. I look at them thinking it would be an excellent offroad vehicle (I'm not adventurous about offroading - it's to get from pt. A-B on rough terrain (yes, really offroad - not gravel, not well packed dirt - real trails on hills in TN). I've seen plenty of 2000 - 04' Xterra's that look like they hold up for a lifetime (except for the crappy fading bumpers). The 05's and up are a redesign that's bulkier in appearance (Xterra on steroids). Any really experienced Nissan X' owners want to fill me in on these things? I can't help but like them. They seem to be easy maintenance. Heck, they're probably built in Smyrna since Nissan's HQ in Nashville, TN (guessing parts must be reasonably priced for maintenance upkeep?). Even, Consumer Reports rates them as a good bet. I tend to get a vehicle and keep it (it's the reason I currently own 3 - an Audi, a Mini, and a Ford Explorer Sport 2WD).  more

Resolved Question: what's the best inexpensive digital camera for a serious & skilled photographer?

hi, i need to buy an inexpensive digital camera very soon, and don’t have time to research the many customer reviews. the main features i need are: (1) extremely good rendition of details in both highlights & shadows (2) high resolution (3) minimal distortion – i’ll be photographing paintings for a portfolio presentation other features – not necessary, but nice to have: (4) optical zoom (5) whatever it is that digital cameras have that reduces blurring caused by unwanted movement (i hate to mess with tripods). (6) flash would be nice, but not at all necessary. my budget is pretty tight. what’s the best i can find in the range of $100 to $250? also, if you can recommend any quality comparison sites, similar to consumer reports, that would be great. i don’t have enough time to read pages and pages of reviews, so charts would be great. i always preferred nikons when i taught film photography – canons weren’t too shabby, either. but, as you can see, i know next to nothing about digital cameras. i’m disabled, and have lots of things to do to prepare for this project, so your input will be very much appreciated. Thanks!  more

Resolved Question: If Planned Parenthood is giving out faulty condoms, would they be advocating unplanned parenthood?

Consumer Reports has rated Planned Parenthood's Honeydew condoms as poor in both reliability and strength. Their Assorted Colors condoms rated poor under strength. To be fair, their Lollypop condoms rate well. People rely on those condoms as part of having safer sex - preventing disease and pregnancy. Why would a place like Planned Parenthood continue to give them out when they've gotten poor ratings? Does Planned Parenthood actually want more unplanned pregnancies? Or is the prevention of unplanned pregnancy being a cure for abortion just lip service? http://www.condomdepot.com/reviews/magazines/reports.cfm But that's just it. When condoms break, they're NOT helping people prevent pregnancy. If you think you're using a reliable form of protection, you're being responsible. But it's sabotage. Hand someone a GOOD condom, not one that has holes or is going to break. I have no issue with handing out condoms, just ones they know are faulty.  more

Resolved Question: Can someone check out the 2001 to 2003 jetta TDi's on Consumer Reports about reliability?

Resolved Question: Should I get a new secured card or should I leave credit cards alone.?

I have a credit score between 520-530. I've only had 4 credit cards and 3 of them are charged off.My quoted score is prior to me paying off my chargeoffs. The 4th is paid as agreed and closed by consumer. I've recently settled my chargeoffs. Should I leave the chargeoffs on my report or ask for them to be deleted? At the same token, should I open a new revolving credit card acct to improve my score? Finally, with me paying off the 3 chargeoff accts, how much will my score jump? I'm guessing 5 pts for each acct. Thanks for taking the time out to review. It's greatly appreciated.  more

Resolved Question: What are the best furniture stores in the Houston, Texas area?

I have researched the various furniture stores in the Houston, Texas area and Rooms To Go and Ashley Furniture had furniture I liked for prices I could afford. However, even though BBB gives the stores fairly good ratings, consumer reviews are not good. The BBB is not reporting any complaints against Star Furniture but the store prices are a little beyond my budget as is the case with Gallery. Any suggestions would be a great help?  more

Resolved Question: I Need Help picking out a blender that can make Ice Drinks?

Does anyone know if a blender that will blend Ice, Milk and fruit. Consumer Reports is stating the Braun PowerMax MX2050 is the best buy but looking at reviews it is not a good blender. Please read below for what I am trying to accomplish. I am trying to make a smoothie. With 2 cups of ice 1/2 milk and some thawed cranberries. One thing that makes me mad is the last few times I tried to make the smoothing it seemed to work ok then it progressively got harder to make them. The blender I am using is a Hamilton Beach 12 speed. I first blend the Cranberries and the milk then I slowly add the ice Soon I will not see the food blending any more. I can hear the blender working but nothing is mixing. I will dumped all ingredients in to a separate bowl. I do not see any chucks of ice so I put it back in to the blender and it will start mixing but it will get stuck again. I did try to add all the ice at once and that did not work, I tried to add a bunch at once and that did not work. So now I am adding just a couple of pieces small ice pieces at a time and I am still having troubles. Please help me figure out how to make these icy drinks  more

Resolved Question: Pregnancy/Baby Registry/ Mother in Law Issue--sorry it is a bit long?

So, my mother in law notoriously does not buy from gift registries. For my bridal shower, she went ot the local Hallmark store and bought everything wedding related she could find rather than just buying something we obviously wanted and needed. For my husband's cousin's wedding, she went to buy the vacuum they registered for. BUT...she bought a different one because it was a little cheaper, and in her words, "better than the one the girl wanted." So, my husband and I are 8 months along and took a very long time to carefully plan our registry (looking at consumer reports, reviews, recall lists, ect). Well, we wanted the "my little lamb" swing and registered for it at BabiesRus. Target then had a sale where the swing was $10 cheaper, so she went and bought it. That was totally fine, especially because she told my husband and we were able to remove it from the registry so we didn't end up with 2 and have to do more returning than necessary. It took me OVER a month to finally settle on a glider...I chose the Dutalier XL reclining glider in cherry with a beige fabric (we chose not to find out the sex of the baby, so everything in the nursery is cream and very light tan). So, for Christmas, my mother in law gave us a glider...which was not even close to the one on our registry. She went to BabiesRus on Black Friday and bought a Shermag glider in this really dark brown/green color for us because it was only $150. When they gave it to us, of course we were appreciative and everything. But for days I agonized over whether to tell them that it was not even close to the one we want for OUR nursery and OUR child. So, a week later I called my MIL. I told her that I did not want to hurt her feelings, but that the glider they gave us was not the one from the registry and that we wanted a different one. I asked her if she minded if we returned it and we would just pay the difference for the one we want. She was totally fine with it, but said that they wanted to keep the glider for their house (they have another grandchild who is 10 mos.) and they would give us the money for it. So, I thought everything was fine. Well, we went over their house the other night and my MIL, FIL, and my husband's aunt and sister never looked at me or acknowledged my presence for the entire hour we were there. I have no idea what is going on, but it seems to me that she has made some kind of a big stink over this and now no one looks or speaks to me, and I am 8 months pregnant...why would they want to make me stressed now??? I would like advice on how to handle the situation and what I should do/feel. Thank you for reading this book, which is not even a 1/16 of the thing I have had to deal with in that family. It is just so upsetting because I tried to handle the situation like an honest adult. I knew his family was super weird and loves to create waves and problems, but I thought they would take a que from my honesty and my effort to include them in exactly what we are going for. Now it is my fault and I am the queen B. She has doen this kind of thing before...she is similar to a snake. She is one way to your face and will go behind your back in a heartbeat...she even does this to her daughter in law who is 8 months pregnant! She constantly needs to feel banded together in a group, she constantly needs attention, and is constantly looking for pity and will do anything to accomplish that. I was going to just exchange it myself, but 1. they decided to take it out of the box and put it together. So, I have to have the receipt to exchange it because there is no box, and 2. I figured it would hurt their feelings more if they came over and noticed the glider wasn't there. So, I was actually trying to prevent that. Thank you all so much. I would have totally just taken it back for store credit, but the store said because it was assembled and no box that we would get nothing without a receipt. A little update...my MIL acted fine to my face when I talked to her about it and said no problem and that they would keep the rocker and give us the money for it so we can get the one we want. Well, she made a HUGE stink to the rest of the family and told them that I called her and said all kinds of rude things about it...to the point where no one looks at me. So...what to do, what to do? She has now made this all about herself as she usually does and I am left alone and isolated. I had a panic attack yesterday and couldn't breathe right. So, I am tired of being hysterical and just want to be numb to that dysfunctional (at best) family. My baby will be better off too I think!  more

Voting Question: Buying a laptop at Best Buy? Under $600?

I am looking to buy my wife a laptop at Best Buy on Monday. She will use it for email, pictures, and just internet browsing. Nothing too much, like games or editing of any sort. Can anyone tell me what would be my best bet for now? I have been looking at ASUS, ACER, and TOSHIBA brands at the moment. Resolved Question: Isn't if funny watching Obama pretend that Wall Street doesn't own his administration?

He also seems upset that banks are still lobbying congress despite getting bailed out. But isn't the congress filled with Democrats who are writing loop-holed filled "reform" as we speak?? The same "reform" Obama is pretending the banks are completely against?? (Didn't the banks basically write the "reform"??) http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091214/ap_on_bi_ge/us_obama_banks "I did not run for office to be helping out a bunch of fat cat bankers on Wall Street," Obama told CBS's "60 Minutes." Obama's Big Sellout http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/31234647/obamas_big_sellout/print What's taken place in the year since Obama won the presidency has turned out to be one of the most dramatic political about-faces in our history. Elected in the midst of a crushing economic crisis brought on by a decade of orgiastic deregulation and unchecked greed, Obama had a clear mandate to rein in Wall Street and remake the entire structure of the American economy. What he did instead was ship even his most marginally progressive campaign advisers off to various bureaucratic Siberias, while packing the key economic positions in his White House with the very people who caused the crisis in the first place. This new team of bubble-fattened ex-bankers and laissez-faire intellectuals then proceeded to sell us all out, instituting a massive, trickle-up bailout and systematically gutting regulatory reform from the inside. Financial Reform Moves Forward, With Many Loopholes http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/10/financial-reform-moves-fo_n_387745.html As Congress inches toward restructuring U.S. financial regulation, lawmakers in the House and Senate have characterized their respective bills as sweeping and historic. But proposals focused on consumer protection, privately-negotiated derivatives and credit rating agencies still allow broad exemptions for key players in the financial system. The Huffington Post Investigative Fund reviewed both reform packages and assembled a chart that compares the bills--and their loopholes. Obama's Wall Street cabinet http://www.wsws.org/articles/2009/apr2009/pers-a06.shtml A series of articles published over the weekend, based on financial disclosure reports released by the Obama administration last Friday concerning top White House officials, documents the extent to which the administration, in both its personnel and policies, is a political instrument of Wall Street. Policies that are extraordinarily favorable to the financial elite that were put in place over the past month by the Obama administration have fed a surge in share values on Wall Street. These include the scheme to use hundreds of billions of dollars in public funds to pay hedge funds to buy up the banks’ toxic assets at inflated prices, the Auto Task Force’s rejection of the recovery plans of Chrysler and General Motors and its demand for even more brutal layoffs, wage cuts and attacks on workers’ health benefits and pensions, and the decision by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) to weaken “mark-to-market” accounting rules and permit banks to inflate the value of their toxic assets. neocon........"But honestly, how is that any different from any of the other previous Presidents?" Resolved Question: As the HR department, what is your responsiblity in this case? What are the legal implications here?

On Thursday, district spokesman Charles White said the teachers had been placed on administrative leave with pay pending an investigation. The fight broke out Monday morning after the women learned they both were involved with the same male teacher, who also teaches at the school. Cobb, who told police she is expecting a child with the man, said she found a letter from Smith on the man's Facebook page. "I am in love with you. I am tired of being your every blue moon [expletive]," the letter read. Cobb responded on Facebook with a "tumultuous" message, police said. On Monday morning, the fight moved from Facebook to the school halls. That's where Smith approached Cobb and told her to "never do that again," the report states. Cobb summoned an assistant principal, but the fight didn't stop. Instead, it spilled into a classroom where Smith began to swing at Cobb, the report states. Several other teachers broke up the fight and Cobb stormed down the hallway while threatening to post the letter on the blackboard. The assistant principal told police she pulled Cobb into another classroom, with the children present, to calm her down. But Cobb continued to curse in front of the students. That's when Smith ran into the room again and "attempted to attack" Cobb, the report states. Police interviewed several students, who said they heard Smith yell "[Expletive], you don't want none of this" and "get the [expletive] off me" while teachers were holding her down. After talking to students and teachers, police charged Smith with simple assault and disorderly conduct. Cobb was charged with disorderly conduct. "Due to the serious nature and children being present during this altercation, it would have been inappropriate for me not to pursue prosecution into this matter," Officer K. Singleton wrote in the report. Both women were released on citations and released on their own recognizance instead of being booked in the jail, police said. Cobb, 33, teaches seventh and eighth grade language arts. Cobb did not return a phone call left at her Rex home Thursday night. Smith, who teaches family and consumer science, could not be reached. School officials said they could not comment further. “The incident is a personnel matter, which is presently under review by the district’s human resources office,” White said. "They are on leave while the district completes its review and determines an appropriate course of action." The fight occurred the same week as Clayton school board member Trinia Garrett is scheduled to go on trial for assaulting her live-in boyfriend. Garrett, who remains on the board, is out on bond on charges of simple assault, simple battery and criminal trespass. Her trial is on the calendar for this week, but has not started yet, her attorney Herbert Adams Jr. said. The fight also occurred while the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools is reviewing the school system's probationary accreditation.  more

Resolved Question: Who thinks this a scam?

I went on a website called kijiji looking for employers. I found a job that had a title that said $14.50/hourly, Easy Job, Pefect for Part Timers‏. In the descritop i just told me I would be able to work from home. I sent the owner of the ad an email asking what the job required, and telling them I am interested. In reply I got an email which said (*I put brakets infront of the stuff I thought should not be posted online*): Hello (my name), Thank you for responding. Due to the current recession, companies are feeling their websites are not interacting well with regular customers. Our company simply puts average consumers as yourself on their website and you review them online. You indicate to them things an average person would like and dislike. Resolved Question: Would you buy a smoothtop range again?

In the market for a new electric range. While the smoothtops look much nicer than coil burners, I have read that they (1) must be cleaned with a special cleaner (EVERY time?) (2) stain easily (3) chip easily (4) must have flat (HOW flat?) cookware, etc. I've read reviews from people who say they would never buy another. I was GOING to go the coil route to begin with (bad memory--afraid I'll leave something on it while hot and not realize it--already did once with my coil burners), but most are very ugly. Also, though I have SEARCHED, I cannot find ANY range that gets consistently good USER reviews (Consumer Reports and users apparently do not agree.) I really don't want to spend more than $1,000 at most. So basically, my questions are (1) Would you buy another smoothtop? (2) Comments re: the 4 numbered comments at beginning of this? (3) Does anybody have a freestanding electric range (smoothtop or coil) that they've had more than a few months (or better, a year or more) that they really like and would recommend? (Lots of questions--don't feel you must answer them all unless you want to!) Thanks SO much!  more

Resolved Question: 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse gt HELP!!?

My last car a 2001 Ford Taurus, was totaled in an accident sadly. Ive been in 4 all together (none were my fault and the accident in my car was the only one i was driving ... still wasn't my fault lady blew a red) But aside from that, Its all about will i walk away from an accident and will the passengers walk away as well in a eclipse. Ive always been mocked for having an old lady car, but at 16 having a Taurus was a good starter car, and she served me well. I'm 19 now and am looking at something a little sportier. Now im only getting around Kelley blue book for my car, so the thing im running into are mustangs (a tad bit pricier) and eclipses (as far sport like cars, that i like) I have my heart set on a 00 Mitsu Eclipse GT, but i know that side airbags weren't very popular for Mitsu until 05, I have read that Only the GT's had side airbags, but im a little iffy. I cant seem to find a crash test rating, ANYWHERE! I'm finding a bunch of Stuff that was recalled on the car, but that goes with any vehicle. Ive tried alot of sites, including carfax, kelley blue book, etc etc.. Ive also heard that parts will cost me an arm and a leg to find and repair. Even if you cant find a report and you just have one, can u just list some pros and cons, pls. I don't want to go off half ******, and get a #1 unsafe vehicle or #2 something i cant imagine to repair if something breaks. Ty fer taking the time to read this, i can read all the consumer reviews, but hey... better be safe than sorry... right?  more

Resolved Question: What is the BEST point & shoot digital camera in $250 range?

Hello... I am driving myself crazy trying to buy a new camera. I had an $800 camera for years that was too professional for me, therefore I never used it. I am wanting something that is easy to use, will fit in my purse, and won't cost me an arm & a leg. Around $250... maybe $275, if worth it. Your advice would be greatly appreciated! I tried to look at the Consumer online reports, but you have to subscribe. And once I figure out which camera I think I want, I find really bad reviews somewhere about it. WAY too many reviews online for everything! :)  more

Voting Question: Do you think Apple iPhones are overpriced garbages?

Marie-Dominique Kolega, whose 18-year-old son was struck in the eye by a piece of glass when the screen shattered on his girlfriend's iPhone, has threatened to file a complaint against Apple following the incident. According to Kolega, the phone began making a hissing noise and the screen suddenly broke, sending pieces flying in the air. SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) - A French teenager's claim that an Apple iPhone shattered in his face is a first involving the device but similar incidents have occurred with the iPod according to a US television station. "My son was frightened but he did not lose an eye," Kolega, of Aix-en-Provence in southern France, told AFP. The report is the first such incident involving an iPhone. But US television news station KIRO reported in late July that an "alarming number" of iPods "have suddenly burst into flames and smoke, injuring people and damaging property." The station said that Apple lawyers tried to stop it from getting hold of hundreds of pages of iPod-related documents from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in California, where Apple has its headquarters. It said the 800 pages of documents included information on "15 burn and fire-related incidents blamed by iPod owners on their iPods." There were no reports of serious injuries, and the cause of the trouble appeared to be overheated lithium ion batteries, according to the Seattle-based television station's review of the paperwork. The CPSC indicated that the number of incidents was low considering the tens of millions of iPods sold and that such reports diminished after Apple evidently changed the battery technology, according to KIRO. There was no immediate response from Apple to AFP requests for comment. who cares if i accidentally put s after garbage, probably only people who wear a helmet and velcro shoes. English is not my native language anyway. I would be pretty pissed if that thing blew up on my face. I hope it doesn't happen to you.  more

I asked him isnt there Statue of Limitations protecting Consumers, he laughed and said No we have a signed contract SOL there is no SOL when there is a written contract. I told him we have a credit report for every year from 2002 and on it it showed it was charged off in 2001. I then made it clear to him I am getting Legal advice on this, he then got all quite and told me he could settle this with a payment plan of 20 dollars a month for 5 years or a lump sum of 1k. I said I will discuss this with my lawyer and asked for his address. He then hung up the phone on me. I have seen good post on here and recomendations on what to do, my wife saved those messages. She lived in Iowa when she opened it and has lived in MN seince 2001. I called my parents attorney and left a message but he is out on vacation for 2 weeks. Voting Question: Used Infiniti I30 or Subaru Forester (both '98)?

I've got a tough decision coming up right now. I'm about to buy my first car ('I'm 17). Both have four doors. Both have 183,000 miles and are the 1998 model. Here's what I know about the two cars: Suburu: Book value: $1,500 Selling for $2,500 Good in the snow, 4 wheel drive. Front breaks didn't work well but the dealer said he fixed them. Radio/speakers may not work. I have read reviews, and they are in the middle. Some say it's the best car they've had, others say to never buy a Suburu after the experiences they've had. The clock doesn't work anymore as well, which is usual for the '98 Forester. I live in NH, so it's always good to have a car with good handling in crappy conditions. Since we would be paying $1,000 more than the book value is, I'm skeptical... Looks kinda gay. It sold for around $22,000. It is inspected and has a sticker on it. Infiniti: Book value:$8,000 Selling for $2,000 Rated consumer report's #1 used car. Very reliable. Best looking car I've probably ever seen, it's my dream car. It has front wheel drive. It was $30,000 new and rated one of '98's best sudans. Has all power options, including sunroof!! All reviews I read praised this car on all aspects. It is not inspected and it does not have a sticker. (I'm sure it would pass with flying colors, looks beautiful. Which one should I choose and why? Thank you and sources would be much appreciated. I have researched both cars for hours on end, just wondering what you people are thinking! I lied the Infiniti was actually $31,500 new.  more

Resolved Question: Has anyone had trouble with Dell Financial Services closing your preferred account for no reason?

I was approved for a Dell account with a credit limit of $2000 a year ago. I made my payments on time with them and had no trouble with them until last month. When I sent my online payment in June it wasn't posted until after my due date that was on a saturday so Dell charged me a $39 late fee. When I called and emailed customer service trying to negotiate to have the late fee removed of course they wouldn't. Well, a few weeks later I received a letter in the mail stating that after reviewing my credit report and my payment history that Dell decided to close my account. Well, that's just wrong and should be illegal because now they expect me to pay the balance I have on my account. If I don't pay it than it's going to list as negative on my account and really make me look bad and I don't need that. It's just nonsense that I have to pay for something that I can no longer use but they had the nerve to tell me I can reappyly for account in the future. I read consumer reports online from other Dell customers who's had similair problems and other problems with Dell ripping them off and some people received letters just like I did. It stated something about a lawsuit being filed against Dell years ago but I don't know much about it. Does anyone know what I can do to resolve this issue so I'm not held responsible for paying this balance? Yes, I made this balance but they ripped me off by closing my account for no reason at all and their interest rates are sky high. If anyone has experienced problems with Dell and can help me than I'd be very greatful. Thank You  more

Resolved Question: how can i decide between a kia forte or honda civic?

I test drove a honda civic, mazda3, and ford fusion... I had my mind pretty much set on buying the civic because i just liked it better... A few days ago, I saw a commercial for the kia forte so I decided to test drive it, the look, price, and features caught my eye... Needless to say, I like the kia forte a lot better. Compared to the civic, its cheaper and has more features and space. However, when this was brought upon my dad, he quickly refused and told me that he is not letting me buy a kia (he is somewhat helping me pay for it so he does have a say in it)because they have bad maintenance reviews, he is all about consumer reports and everything... The car did not drive bad at all compared to what he thought it to be... I really like the kia forte but I don't want to buy it if it is just going to break down more quickly then the civic, which is what he thinks will happen...  more

Resolved Question: Question for '09 Hyundai Elantra Owners?

Would like to know your opinion of this vehicle. I've read the other reviews from Edmuds, Consumers Reports, etc. What is your opinion of the gas mileage, steering, braking, ride and handling, traction control, etc? How close are the internet reviews to the actual owning of the vehicle? Thanks,  more
