Open Question: Joe Jedlowski, How do I determine what type of senior housing arrangement is best?

Joe Jedlowski, After familiarizing yourself with the types of residential care, it’s time to conduct a thorough inventory of the senior’s wants, needs and goals. Some key issues to consider: Joe Jedlowski,Temporary versus long term care: An older person may go to a nursing home for rehab following a surgery or stroke, then return home. In other circumstances, a senior’s needs are better served by planning a move into a situation that is likely to remain the same for the many years to come. Independence: Can the senior live alone, and more importantly, does he/she want to? Or would living in a more service-oriented environment be more nurturing? Privacy: Independence and assistance generally form a continuum: privacy decreases as the need for assistance increases. If the senior's desire for privacy is paramount, independent living, assisted living, or a Continuing Care Retirement Community would all be preferable to a board & care home or a nursing home. Needs for personal care: How much and what kinds of personal or “custodial care” are needed or desired? There are online needs assessment questionnaires to help determine this and then match the care needs with the right type of housing. Needs for medical care: If the senior has a chronic illness that necessitates special medical care, or ongoing services of medical professionals, independent living and even assisted living may not be suitable. Costs: Learn about the financial aspects of senior housing to determine what options are affordable for you. Walk through and evaluate several care facilities or senior communities that seem suitable. Reviewing facility comparison checklists can help you determine which type of environment fits the senior resident’s requirements and preferences. Seek guidance from professionals who are experts in senior housing issues such as medical social workers, case managers or geriatric care managers. They can help with all phases of this process: identifying goals and values, assessing needs, determining what is affordable, and suggesting appropriate facilities.  more

Open Question: Need Someone to review my english paper PLEASSSEE!!!!!!?

ok so i wrote an essay and i need someone to check it and give me advice please on how to correctotit it had to have and intro and it the first paragraph on the paper but i dont know how it turned out =\....HERE IT IS... this is the out line I. intro to general problem II.summaries of two articles III. and what I recommend for people to read......... MY ESSAY... Have you ever heard the saying “Women are from Venus and Men are from Mars?” well much has been said about both being from different planets and having different cultures, the reality is that we are all from the same planet, but the saying seems to fit because men and women communicate with each other on a daily basis and don’t always understand what the other is saying which becomes the problem. If we take a close look at the ways we communicate you can see the differences in the talking styles, the different ways of thinking, and the different point of views. I believe the main problem between male and female communication is that men are more direct and to the point, while women like to take their time and tell a story which will be typically more illustrative and emotional than the men would like to hear. Therefore, my opinion is men will give women a deaf ear to what they say because they will most likely lose interest in there long explanative story. In “His Talk, Her Talk," by Joyce Maynard, The problems of male and female communication are discussed by stating some of the authors own personal experiences in her life. She also discusses how men and women like to talk about different topics and the reasons why they are drawn into same sex conversations, Quite early she gives the example of her son, who plays blocks and a toy car and even makes car noises to go with it all while also playing with a doll which she terms environmental contamination. She believes that there are no innate differences between men and women, but that it is the environment who has taught the child about the differences. She also drew upon occasions when her husband would come home after having met pals at a club. She was interested to hear in full details of what happened but it was not his nature to give as many details as she would and her understanding was just that all genders are different. Whereas in the second essay “Man to Man, Women to Women” by Mark A. Sherman and Adelaide Haas also discusses the problems of male and female communication but from a more clinical perspective, the authors send out questioners to get there answers and they discussed how the topics of the conversations showed to be a very important key in a conversation and how different they were, such as how women’s topics tended to be more to the self and emotional and they sought support while having a conversation while men’s topics had shown to be more simple in comparison and they sought to just be comfortable, the authors showed how men and women just feel more comfortable communicating with the same sex because they felt more understood and they authors found that there are solutions to problems of male and females communications. While both articles regarding male-female communication were great, they took on two different viewpoints. "His Talk Her Talk" displayed a positive, almost playful, manner in which the communication problem was discussed. "Man to Man, Woman to Woman" had a more clinical perspective I would recommend the latter, "Man to Man, Woman to Woman", simply because I feel that this article represented a problem on a more serious note, yet it did not have an underlying depressing quality to it. The authors put careful thought and consideration into this article and it is apparent that couples can learn much more from a clinical perspective than a comical.  more

Resolved Question: Hotel Rooms: Cheaper to make reservation or just show up?

Hi, we need a place to stay on our trip from North GA to Orlando, FL. Normally, I'd make reservations through Travelocity or through the hotel's website but am wondering if its cheaper to just show up and ask them what the daily rate is. The logic I have is this. First off, there's no way any of the hotels are going to be full so I don't have to worry about that. When I show up and ask them "how much" they know they are going to have to give me their best rate or I might go a mile down the road somewhere else. In comparison, making reservations with Travelocity is going to cost them some money to pay Travelocity and even if I were to book with their website, they'd chalk up that sale to either their branding, marketing or reviews as opposed to someone who could be price shopping for a good rate. I've done this twice and its worked well both times as I got the "AAA Rate" one time and a good rate the second. Is there a common consensus on this?  more

Resolved Question: How do you put this in MLA format?

1) “Hemingway’s novel, A Farewell to Arms, is disconcerting for several reasons. First, it is difficult to get into the mind of the narrator, Frederic Henry. His mindset is alien to many readers. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that he is a man’s man. For many Frederic Henry typifies Hemingway’s embodiment of American machismo. As a result, Henry does not seem encumbered with excessive philosophical or theological ponderings that are the themes of many books.” Source: Review of A Farewell to Arms Ernest Hemingway’s Third Novel by Melissa Howard http://classic-american-fiction.suite101.com/article.cfm/review_of_a_farewell_to_arms 2) “Hemingway foreshadows ‘Catherine’s’ pregnancy by the example of the soldiers marching with ammunition and weighed down by weapons. The soldiers had long cloaks over them thus making them look “as though they were six months gone with child”. It’s ironic for the author to use the example of foreshadowing. Here's the comparison when you analyze the quote you realize those soldiers killing each other; taking away life, while childbirth and pregnancy gives life. This example gave the hint of Catherine’s pregnancy. Catherine’s death is foreshadowed by her fear of rain. Catherine says “sometimes I see me dead in it. Hemingway makes an explicit connection between rain and death; it foreshadows the tragic conclusion of the book. Catherine’s death seems to have made no impact on Henry. At the end of the novel Henry loses both his child and his lover. There are losses in war and love in which there is no compensation. The last ironic event was the storm that proceeded throughout Catherine’s surgery and death. The rain is a signal for destructive forces, the rain that fell on Henry as he leaves the hospital, leaves “Henry” speechless and hopeless.” Source: A Farewell to Arms by Brittany CLoud http://www.harlemlive.org/writing-arts/essays/a-farewell-to-arms-essay.html 3) An overview of A Farewell to Arms, in an essay for Exploring Novels, Gale by Arnold A. Markley “Federic detests words that are separated from actions-words like “glory” and “courage” were disgusting to him; for Frederic, it is only one’s actions that suck concepts have any value or meaning. A religion, or any organized system of beliefs, has to be tried and tested before Frederic will be able to accept it, and as yet, he has found no system of beliefs or values to which to commit himself entirely...” 5) “Hemingway’s use of the technique sets the tone of the novel as one of disjointure and alienation. The reader steps immediately into a world described by someone remembering. However, we are given no clues about time, place, or even the characters.” Source: http://www.novelexplorer.com/category/a-farewell-to-arms/ 7) Source: Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms by Michael John Macdonald, IV “Frederic returns to the front, and all illusions have been stripped away. The chaos and disorder become tangible. A sense of self-preservation replaces Frederic’s stoicism. His adherence to the ideals of duty that brought him back to the front now seems irrational.” 8) “The opening of the book presents Lt. Henry's wounding after being separated from Catherine and his removal from the place where he is "broken" (37-38). Recurrences of this threat of death happen when Lt. Henry plunges into the river to escape being shot by Italian carabinieri and later in Catherine's death. But the preamble to each of these scenes is a time spent in familiar geometric terrain with roads and rails, bridges and lines of trees” (39). Source: http://vccslitonline.cc.va.us/AFTA/adair.html 11) Source: The Religion of Death in A Farewell to Arms by James F. Light “She has not been broken by death, despite her feeling to the contrary, and she has therefore gained victory and immortality. This is the only kind of immortality man can know; it is gained by bravery and stoicism, not selfless service to God (the priest), country (Gino), beloved (Catherine), or mankind (Rinaldi). Such a limited immortality is a poor substitute for victory over death.”  more

Resolved Question: Olympus E-420 or another camera?

I am looking for my first DSLR camera, I've owned a bridge camera for a while and worked with the various modes and in manual. I'm leaning towards the Olympus E-420, it seems like a good deal, about $400 right now for the kit, and I also like the size since I have rather small hands. And also since it's small I'll be able to bring it to more events and school since I do quite a bit of photography for yearbook. The one thing that concerns me is that it uses the four-thirds sensor, which is a bit smaller than a nikon or cannon's standard sensor. I've used my friend's Cannon EOS XS, how will the quality differ and will it be noticeable? I've also looked at Sony's Alpha A230L, but I haven't really heard any rave reviews over it. How would that be in comparison? And my third option would be buying a used dslr from a local pawn shop/craigslist (apparently according to my mom something of that value isn't good to buy on ebay. While it isn't my choice, it's her card). Would this be a good option, and if so, what would be a good camera to buy? Fairly recent would be nice, and under $500.  more

Resolved Question: First Years Breastflow Bottle or Tommee Tippee closer to nature?

My wife and I are looking to breastfeed our newborn, but as a father I want to be able to take on some of the responsibility. We have been looking at options to go back and forth between breast and pumped milk in a bottle. It seems like the biggest problem with the bottle is that there is a different suck than when a baby latches onto a breast. The First Years Breastflow bottle seems to have taken this into account. I first located the First Years Breastflow Bottle (http://bit.ly/b8rGrj), and read some great reviews on Amazon.com and Consumerreview.com which rated it highly. It seemed very innovative in it's method and not like your typical bottle. We were in Babies R'us the other day and they have the Tommee Tippee closer to nature (http://bit.ly/cDlzcS), which looks very similar to the Breastflow Bottle system, but the round on the top of it actually seems bigger. This actually seems like it may be closer to an actual breast and possibly better. I have tried to do internet research on comparisons between the two, but it doesn't seem like there is much out there on the Tommee Tippee bottles. They don't carry them on the American Amazon and even the UK Amazon only has about 6 reviews. Is there anyone that has tried both? Or if you have tried the Tommee Tippee bottle, what do you think? Thank you!  more

Resolved Question: Anybody that's read "The Lost Symbol"?

But they were actually talking about the CIA woman! Why would they make that comparison? Resolved Question: Do you ever disagree with so called 'professional' album reviews?

I just listened to 'Come On Die Young (1999)' by Mogwai and it is amazing! I give it a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. It is original and good. Is just as experimental as 'Mogwai Young Team (1997)', but in different ways. Where' 'Mogwai Young Team' is like being in a raging storm - 'Come On Die Young' is like stumbling upon a beautiful lily-covered pond in a forest; and then taking it all in. It is minimalistic and there is some musique concrete elements to it. It is almost like the mathematical inverse of 'Mogwai Young Team'. Way cool! PROFESSIONAL REVIEW (for 'Come On Die Young') 1. "[Come On Die Young] received a somewhat muted reception when compared to Mogwai Young Team. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, writing for Allmusic, wrote: 'Perhaps Come on Die Young wouldn't have seemed as disappointing if it hadn't arrived on the wave of hype and expectation, but the truth is, it pales in comparison to their own work.'" Cite: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Come_on_die_young 2. Allmusic gave the album 2.5 out of 5 stars! Cite: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Come_on_die_young I know some albums that are 2.5 for 5 and this ain't one of them! You know what I think happens here? This has happened to me too, so I can admit this. Sometimes you love an album so much that your mind gets wrapped around it to the point that that's what you expect the band to sound like. Then, when that band's new album comes out, if it is radically different from what you expected - you might not like it at first. But, say you throw that album on a year later - after you may have moved on from all those passionate preconceived expectations - then you might be in the space to hear that album with an open mind, and it might hit you all of a sudden. It has happened to me many times!  more

Resolved Question: flip ultra hd vs. flip mino hd?

i'm looking at upgrading my camcorder and getting a flip, but i'm stuck on the ultra hd and mino hd! i've already looked at all the reviews and comparisons and tests on youtube...how the ultra is bigger, but has a bigger screen, has matte finish, films better inside (or was it outside?) and that the mino is smaller, smaller screen, shiny finish and films better where the ultra does not. does anyone have one and which do you prefer?? i mostly will use this for vlogging, probably inside a lot, but random stuff at random places, maybe some stuff outside...it would be nice if it could fit in my pocket, which i'm not sure if the ultra will be able to do, but if they can't, then my purse will have to do. anyone have suggestions?!? i'm so torn!! thanks!!!  more

Voting Question: Did you know Darwin was a racist?

The Negroid stock is even more ancient than the Caucasian and Mongolian, as may be proved by an examination not only of the brain, of the hair, of the bodily characters such as teeth, the genitalia, the sense organs, but of the instincts, the intelligence. The standard of intelligence of the average Negro is similar to that of the eleven-year-old youth of the species Homo sapiens (1980, 89:129). “The Races of Man.” In that book, Darwin wrote: At some future period not very distant as measured by centuries, the civilised races of man will almost certainly exterminate and replace the savage races throughout the world. At the same time the anthropomorphous apes...will no doubt be exterminated. The break between man and his nearest Allies will then be wider, for it will intervene between man in a more civilised state, as we may hope, even than the Caucasian, and some ape as low as the baboon, instead of as now between the Negro or Australian and the gorilla (1874, p. 178). Their mental characteristics are likewise very distinct; chiefly as it would appear in their emotional, but partly in their intellectual faculties. Everyone who has had the opportunity of comparison must have been struck with the contrast between the taciturn, even morose, aborigines of S. America and the light-hearted, talkative negroes No rational man, cognizant of the facts, believes that the average Negro is the equal, still less the superior, of the white man. And if this be true, it is simply incredible that, when all his disabilities are removed, and our prognathus relative has a fair field and no favour, as well as no oppressor, he will be able to compete successfully with his bigger-brained and smaller jawed rival, in a contest which is to be carried out on by thoughts and not by bites (1871, p. 20). Voting Question: Best Video Camera for newbie amateur film maker on a budget?

I want to get into amateur film-making and I don't have a clue what kind of camera to get. At first I fancied one of those big chunky shoulder cameras that they use on film-sets but I don't really see the difference and I think I need something for a beginner. It needs to be able to take a bit of a beating because I'm going to be living in Uganda for 12 months next year (Where I hope to be doing most of my filming). It also needs to be within a budget - realistically 600 quid but I think I'll stretch to a grand for this question just so I can see the variety of possibilities. I don't really know what to look for in a camera but I want something that will look good when I upload and edit it (No grainy footage), has enough 'pro-features' for me to learn and muck about with, and is still fairly kind on a beginner. Any idea what I should be looking at, what features to look out for, or any good comparison or review websites? Any advice will be very much appreciated.  more

Resolved Question: GNC Mega Men Sport Vitamin?

Hi everyone, this past weekend I went to GNC to pickup some Vitamin C Pills. While I was there the sales guy was telling me about the Mega Men daily multi vitamins. I told him I take Centrum Performance and I'm not interested at this time. The last couple nights I have been reading comparisons and reviews on Centrum and Mega Men. What I read is that most of the Centrum brands including the one I take has Iron as one of the supplements and that extra Iron in mens body can cause prostate cancer. So today after work I stopped in at a GMC Store and talked to a Sales Guy and was told that the Mega Men Sport would be the best for me, so I bought a bottle of it. Now that I got it home I was looking at the ingredients and notice it has Creatine in it. I'm kinda scared about taking it now do to long term side affects of Creatine. Some of the side affects I found is mood swings in young people I'm 23, and Kidney damage. So I'm just wondering what you guys think should I keep the product, or return it for the regular Mega Men that doesn't have Creatine, or just return it to get my money back and forget about GNC all together. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks  more

Resolved Question: what's the best inexpensive digital camera for a serious & skilled photographer?

hi, i need to buy an inexpensive digital camera very soon, and don’t have time to research the many customer reviews. the main features i need are: (1) extremely good rendition of details in both highlights & shadows (2) high resolution (3) minimal distortion – i’ll be photographing paintings for a portfolio presentation other features – not necessary, but nice to have: (4) optical zoom (5) whatever it is that digital cameras have that reduces blurring caused by unwanted movement (i hate to mess with tripods). (6) flash would be nice, but not at all necessary. my budget is pretty tight. what’s the best i can find in the range of $100 to $250? also, if you can recommend any quality comparison sites, similar to consumer reports, that would be great. i don’t have enough time to read pages and pages of reviews, so charts would be great. i always preferred nikons when i taught film photography – canons weren’t too shabby, either. but, as you can see, i know next to nothing about digital cameras. i’m disabled, and have lots of things to do to prepare for this project, so your input will be very much appreciated. Thanks!  more

Voting Question: How should I prepare myself for Differential Equations course at my Community College?

I will be taking Differential Equations in the Spring and it is very very vital for me to earn a A in that class to transfer to a college of choice. Currently, as you know, it is the winter and I have some time to prepare for this course. The class book just arrived in the mail. The problem is that I have a issue, I did very poorly in Calculus and I don't have a deep understanding of its concepts. Should I rather review Single/Multi Variable Calculus or dive right into Differential Equations? I hear Differential Equations is not a very difficult class in comparison with Linear Algebra. Is this true? What should I do? I'm worried!  more

Resolved Question: I need a link or personal description of what birth control brands are most popular.?

I am having so much difficulty finding a round-up of all the birth control PILL brands. All my google searches result in a description of different birth control methods. Well I already know the methods and know that I want to go on the pill. I've never been on any kind of birth control. Basically, I would appreciate some links to sites that have comparisons of the different birth control PILLS, not the methods. I want to know the pros and cons of each, and/or their purposes (i.e. four periods a year, or such.) and online reviews would be nice as well. Before anyone responds w/ their personal experiences,I already know that Yaz is not a good option, I have several friends who were deeply negatively affected by Yaz and will not take it, simply put. Also out is Ortho Try Cyclen. I guess in summary, I'd appreciate clear-cut online comparisons of birth control pills.  more

Voting Question: What do you think of your robot vacuum?

Anyone out there own a robot vacuum? I'm looking into getting one, but they all say they die quickly. Anyone have one that lasted? What brand to get? I see lots of Roomba's but I know there are now generics. Anyone have a generic? All the real comparisons are ads for Roomba. I don't see real comparisons with generics. And the reviews I see are way too wordy, without really saying anything! I want to know, does it work, will it work, best bang for the buck for carpet and how long will it work for? How much upkeep do I need to do? What type do you have?  more

Resolved Question: Anyone used both a mechanics and medical stethoscope?

I'm trying to find an underground water pipe leak, it is giving no signs of water or anything else, but I know its there. After researching I've found that the high pressure water leask actually make a bit of noise. I know they have very expensive listening equipment out there, but I don't have the money to buy the expensive stuff, it or hire someone. I want to at least give it a shot to listen through the ground with a stethoscope first. The problem is, I've searched for hours for a direct comparison between mechanics stethoscopes and medical stethoscopes, and cannot find any sort of comparison. I do have a cheap mechanics stethoscope. I figured maybe driving a metal stake into the ground at various places, and listening through it with the mechanics stethoscope might be the best way. However I saw a expensive leak detecting stethoscope, that looked much more like a medical stethoscope. I was thinking maybe it would be worth getting a $20 medical one instead, that I could just place directly on top of the soil and it might work better. I just simply can't find any good technical details as far as what types of frequency ranges they pick up, etc. The other option is a $40 harbor freight "digital diagnostics stethoscope", its like a digitla version of a mechanics stethoscope, but I can't find any reviews or anything if that actually works any better. So if anyone has experience with both, (or even the electronic ones) could you tell me the plusses and minuses of each? Which would be better for listening to underground noises? Thanks for the long and detailed answer so far, although the leak is not under a slab foundation, its in the yard either on the main line, or perhaps in the irrigation system (which I never use). There isn't a main shutoff in the house, but I'm 99% sure its not in the house since I have traced all plumbing in the whole crawlspace with no traces of water, not to mention the crawlspace is completely dry. I also tested the toilets. The meter is running so there has got to be a leak in the yard somewhere but there is no trace at all. I was hoping a stethiscope could help find it, but I don't know wether to drive a stake in the ground and put a mechanics stethoscope to it, or buy a medical one, or even buy a $40 harbor freight digital mechanics stethoscope. Just don't know which would work best. Its leaking roughly 1 cubic foot (7.4 gallons), every 25 minutes.  more

Resolved Question: Sony HDR-CX520V vs Panasonic HDC-TM300? What are the pros and cons of each?

I am looking for a good overall camera to shoot short clips/videos/movies. It must be HD and be good in low light. A potential future use of this camera will be to record certain parts of events at nightclubs and the like. According to http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Sony-Handycam-HDR-CX500V-Camcorder-Review-37247/Panasonic-HDC-TM300-Comparison.htm the Sony only excels in the stabilization field. What does this mean in terms of indoor, outdoor and lowlight shooting? What are the pros and cons of each camera? If you have owned/operated either camera before; what are the things you liked and/or didn't like about it? Price aside, which one would you go with? These 2 cameras were recommended to me through other forums and people I know - so I am not really looking for other recommendations unless there is something new or you really liked in the $1000 price range. I am also interested in features such as a fast frame-rate for shooting slow motion and also stop-motion. Any advice is appreciated!  more

Resolved Question: Why does the left point to the mortality rate/lower life expectancy in the US, to support socialized medicine?

Given that many studies have shown that the medical system is NOT the culprit for the disparity in mortality rates and life expectancy, why does the left continue to use this as an argument in support of socialized medicine? Isn't it a bit like continuing to insist that there are WMD in Iraq? Here's a link to one of the many studies available online, from U of Penn: http://repository.upenn.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1014&context=psc_working_papers And here are some excerpts: "The US’s poor performance is often blamed on its health care system. In a previous analysis, we reviewed a number of studies comparing the efficacy of the US health care system with that of several other developed countries (Preston and Ho 2009). We found that, by the standards of other OECD countries, the US health care system typically functions well in the treatment of cancer and heart disease, the two leading causes of death at older ages. We examined in more depth death rates from prostate and breast cancer, diseases for which effective methods of identification and treatment have been developed and where behavioral factors do not play a dominant role. We found that the US experienced a significantly faster decline in prostate and breast cancer mortality than the comparison countries between 1994 and 2005. On the basis of this analysis we concluded that the health care system is not responsible for the US’s low life expectancy ranking at age 50 (Ibid)." And this excerpt belies the notion that socializing medicine for those over 65 (via Medicare) has been a help to them: "Since individuals qualify for Medicare at age 65, it is possible that the US performs well at older ages because of older individuals’ expanded access to the health care system. We explore the merits of this explanation by examining equivalent rankings and ratios in 1960, a year that predates the implementation of Medicare. "Figure 7 shows that the upward-sloping age patterns already existed in 1960. In fact, a comparison of Figures 1 and 7 will show that the US position among the comparison countries has in fact systematically worsened since 1960. This deterioration is particularly clear for females. Thus, it does not appear that Medicare entitlements are responsible for the upward slope in US rankings, since the pattern was clearly established before Medicare was introduced. In fact, US rankings at ages 65-69 to 80-84 have substantially deteriorated since the introduction of Medicare." Isn't this Ivy League study particularly damning evidence against further socializing medicine? Sage and Katmandu, excellent answers. I would challenge whoever gave you TDs to come up with a reasoned answer of her/his own in rebuttal. TDs are a cowardly admission that you are incapable of coming up with an answer of your own.  more

Resolved Question: New GPU, thinking GeForce 200 series. Need help with comparisons/choices.?

Today i got fed up with my 1 year old, self built computer. It has recently been crashing a lot and screen glitching. I dont know what is causing this, computer says all drivers are up to date, and i have recently reformatted my computer so not too sure if it's a virus or not. I opened it up today, gave it a good dusting, cleaned the fans out, and it seemed like there was a lot of dust in both the processor and GPU heatsinks. This alone might fix the problem if it was caused due to overheating. However, i have a lot of gift cards and extra cash from the holidays, and was thinking it a good time to upgrade, or at least get the opinions of some that are more informed than i am. My current setup is: NZXT Zero case AMD Phenom 9950 Black processor (2.66) MSI DKA790GX Platinum mobo 750w Corsair PSU MSI HD Radeon 4850 Was reading a review on my current GPU on benchmarkreviews.com in which they also had testings for 2 of them in crossfire, which was an option i was looking at. However, in the review, it had the "ZOTAC GTX 280 AMP!" card outperforming everything. I then read the review of that card on their site, and they had nothing but praise for it and the new technology, with a few minor opinionated cons. However upon looking for this card at newegg and google search, it has been hard to find, and have seen a lot of 285. I dont follow GPUs enough to know what differences there are or if it has been a total replace or what. So far i have seen 260s, 275, 285, and 295. I think 295 is out of my league in price, so i was wondering if i could get some opinions and suggestions on what to do. Options: Another 4850 to run in CrossFire GTX 260 GTX 275 GTX 285 Of all the GTX, please also specify which manufacturer (e.g. EVGA, Zotac, etc.) and why. Thank you in advance! Added: Sorry i forgot to mention i have 2x2g OCZ Reaper DDR3 1600 for my RAM, so that's not the problem either, pretty sure my mobo is fine. Like i said it could have been due to overheating due to an overly dusty case, or it still may be possible that a virus has caused this, though less likely. Would also like for multiple people to make suggestions and give advice/counter advice to an upgrade on the GPU Take note that this setup has run for me for a year straight, so no DOA items  more

Resolved Question: has anyone owned both SONY and CANON?

if you have, can you please help with my decision? first, please note this is regarding advanced, compact DIGITAL Cameras. [not dslrs] I've only owned a Canon powershot and Nikon, so I wouldn't know how Sony compares in terms of ease of use. I am in love with the Canon's layout and ease of use; its operating design. everything's easy to find and use, but it has complex features at the same time. How is the Sony's ease of use in comparison.? [I am specifically torn between these 2 camera: http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Sony_Cyber-shot_DSC_H20/verdict.shtml and http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Canon_PowerShot_SX120_IS/verdict.shtml . Voting Question: WHICH TO BUY!? NIKON D90 OR CANON T1i?!?

I have always personally been more fond of Canon and have told myself that my first DSLR would be just that, a Canon. But recently while researching the Rebel T1i (500D), I stumbled upon the Nikon D90. Now based on reviews, the Nikon may be better in comparison, but is more expensive in not just the camera, but it's lenses as well. I have handled both Nikons and Canons and am really now just torn between the two. Should I go for the cheaper, but comparable Canon with the more affordable lenses, or the more expensive and possibly higher performance Nikon D90? Your help really is appreciated. Thank You :) P.S. Also I believe the Canon uses a pentamirror, and not a pentaprism like the Nikon (correct me if I am wrong). What is the significant difference between the two?  more

Resolved Question: Hello! I'm buying a new rear tyre for my 2008 fireblade. What tyre do you recomend?

Last time, the shop replaced the tires, but this time I'd like to learn how to choose myself. How does it work? What do you have to respect when getting a tyre for a bike? Is there a review site with tyre comparisons? The manual recommends only the tyres specified bellow. Should I stick to either one of these tyres or are there better more advanced tyres that I could get? front tyre: 120/70ZR17M/C(58W) either: Bridgstone BT015F Radial F or Dunlop Qualifier PTK Rear Tyre: 190/50ZR17M/C(73W) Bridgstone BT015R RADIAL F or Dunlop Qualifier NK Thank you very much! Thank you very much 2004jad and BaronVonParty. Fireblades.org, excellent idea! :) Regarding speed and acceleration, it's 50/50 I sometimes ride slowly and calmly but many times ride fast with some hard accelerations and braking. (I won't be riding in a track with this tyre) My top priority is to have a tire that is the safest possible in dry (or almost dry) road conditions, ranging from 45 degrees air temp with a slightly humid road to 97 degrees air temp with a dry road. I'll sacrifice durability for this. I rarely ride in the wet and when I do, I go very slowly. my front tyre is a Dunlop Qualifier, and I visited Dunlop's website where I read this: "Do not mix these radials with other radials or non-radials, fit only in pairs." Does this mean that I, if I'm buying the rear tyre only, that I'll have to buy a Dunlop Qualifier to match the front tire? thanks! what about the bridgestones mushki? :) or the Pirellis definitely BaronVonParty, it's very expensive to get both tyres at the same time! :P I wanted to buy the same tyre now, the qualifier NK, which is the exact same rear tyre that I had, but it turns out they don't even sell that in my country lol I worn that one to the metal wiring and have been riding with it on the limit for a while now. But good news, I just talked on the phone with 2 tyre professionals, one from Dunlop, and I came to the conclusion that bike-specific tyre models don't have very important differences to the standard tyre models. And also that having two slightly different tyres is not a problem if you don't push your bike especially cornering. I'm now informed about the Dunlop models and chose to get the Qualifier 2, which apparently, is the more advanced Dunlop tyre for this bike that doesn't encompass track-days. I also learn that it's important also not to have a big wear difference between both tyres, as this affects wheel rotation, suspension and cornering  more

Resolved Question: What are the reviews on Chris Brown Album Grafitti (Big FAN)?

I would have to add...I love Chris Brown, he's a talented black male artist and I will continue to support his music. I've tried to "google" his upcoming album reviews for weeks, but I'm tired of reading about the comparison between Rihanna's album Rated-R and Chris Brown's ablum Grafitti...Also, I'm tired of people thinking most of the songs are related to the incident that happen (10 months ago). People should start listening to songs and compare it to their life rather than two "young celebrities" which I might add...we don't know...I love both artists...and I'm sorry this happen to the both of them...mainly Chris...Chris Brown is a great talented black male, and I think we should give him a break and pray for him...I'm hoping the album will be a success...I personally love it...and I wish all the haters and followers would stop with all this hatred.... But about the reviews....How is his album doing?? Have you heard it? What do you think?  more
