Resolved Question: Need renter's advice...not sure how to deal with this strange issue. Sorry this is long.?

I live in a second floor apartment and my living room has a large front window that only opens on the two smaller sections on the end. On a windy day in November, the small section of the window literally flew into my living room (apparently these windows have never been replaced since the buildings were built in the 1980's). Luckily no one was in the living room at the time. I put the window back in to the best of my ability (I avoided calling my landlord/maintenance because I don't like the idea of having people I do not know come into my apartment while I'm at work). Since then, we've had several heavy snow storms over the past couple of weeks and icicles have developed from the top of our window. As these icicles are melting, a TON of water is getting into my apartment. I reluctantly emailed my landlord about this issue and also noted the smaller section of the window is not put in properly due to the incident in November. He let me know that the water leaking in "was not a concern" although there is visible water damage that I described to him in the email. Side note- had to take the curtains down since water was leaking from them as well and exacerbating the problem. So here's the main issue- Yesterday immediately following work I went out to dinner with my boyfriend. We arrived back at the apartment at 6:30 p.m. I got inside and changed into pj's. I was standing in my bedroom and thought I could smell something funky, but brushed it off. After about 3 hours of relaxing, I noticed that my curtain was back up on my window and that the window was fixed. This is great. Then I started to turn off the lights and as I walked closer to the kitchen, noticed the funky smell again. I realized it was gas. I walked to the stove and noticed that two of my burners were turned just slightly to 'light', so that the flame was not on, but so the gas was burning. Now, that ENTIRE day I had not touched the stove ONCE except in the morning when I do my daily check to make sure that everything in the kitchen is turned off (I am VERY anal when it comes to making sure my stove, coffee maker, toaster oven, etc is turned off every time I leave my apartment). I have no clue how long the gas was on for in my kitchen. I am very irritated that this happened and I also feel uncomfortable now since this could have been a very dangerous situation. I'm debating emailing my landlord, but I have no proof, only my word, that whoever was in my apartment messed with my stove. However, I don't want to piss maintenance off and risk any additional shenanigans. I'm also pissed my landlord didn't tell me when maintenance would be entering my apartment!!!!!!!!!!! Should I bring this to my landlords attention?? I dont want to cause trouble, I'm sure this could have been a careless mistake, but I also don't want this to happen again to me or anyone else in my complex. SORRY this is long. Advice appreciated since I'm not well read on renters rights, etc. Thank you!!!!!!  more

Resolved Question: Help me buy a wedding gift?

I need some ideas for a nice but affordable wedding gift. I have a wedding to go to in a few months and it is my best friends wedding. I cannot afford a thing right now but I am willing to get a very nice but affordable gift. (I hate the word "cheap" but I need something cheap.) I can't honestly spend more than $20 and I don't want it to be one of those predictable gifts like a coffee maker or toaster etc. I also don't want it to be some sort of decoration that she would not end up using because it does not go with her house decor or it doesn't suit her taste. I also want it to be something that both the husband and wife can use or like. Any help for strictly $20 dollar or less gifts would be appreciated. (No dollar store suggestions please!) Thanks for your suggestion everyone! Its, that is a bad idea! lingerie is for bridal showers only and plus I need an appropriate gift that she can open in front of everyone the following day. The picture frame idea is cute and nice, but maybe for a bridal shower, not as a wedding gift. It screams "I couldn't afford something nice" even though it would show my effort on being cute. People know you can get picture frames for less than $20. But thanks for the idea anyways. Oh and the couple are leaving two days after the wedding via plane to the hubby's home state where my friend will live. Sorry for making this so long but the couple does not drink alcohol and also its too cold to go on a picnic these days. Perse, I can see you put thought into your answer,hehe..Thanks for the suggestions but this is a conservative Indian couple and in their culture they open gifts day after wedding kinfront of everyone and a lickable underwear is not good at all! lol. Still, I want it to be classy and nice. I know her too well and she wouldn't like any of those ideas.(no offence) Some of your ideas are better for bdays or anniversaries. Also, it can't be "handmade" or anything crafted b/c that seems childish and cheap and I am not good at crafts/sewing etc..but keep the answers coming people. Luv ya all!  more

Resolved Question: Suggestions on handling wife and actually daughter?

We have been married for almost 22 years. Have 2 adult children(using that term loosely) 20 year old is in boot camp right now and the 19 attends local community college and lives at home. The situation has been going on for a while now. What is occurring, or should say not, sex between wife and I. About 6 months ago, though this was going on before that even, I got laid off from work. Unemployment does not cover all the bills that I use to pay so took a part time job and work around 25 hours a week just under the max earn allowed while unemployed. This job is somewhat physically demanding and pays minimum wage but it does allow me to pay all the bills with unemployment. Have had many interviews up tell late November then it died down over holidays and now have had or will have had 2 in the last week with good chance of landing the one job. The reason I mention this is if get one of these jobs will still have to work part time and do one of these jobs I really don't want to take because of the high physical demand they require and pay much less then I use to make. Ok on with the rest of the question. Our sex life has been very limited because of the fact that either one of us is tired (usually her) during the work week. Or the fact that one of us is either getting ready to go to work getting back from work or taking care of things around the house that have to be done. Even with me being unemployed I still spend 9-10 hours job searching daily and then work part time and wife has been taking more hours at work (overtime) so we can get by. She had/has been complaining that our sex is about once a week or once every two weeks at best. To add to the reason why its so infrequent the times that I have initiated lately, if not denied because of the afore mentioned reasons, it does not get completed. That is we start but I usually end it before either of us finish or at least before I finish. Here is a perfect example for this weekend. I worked Friday night so did not get home tell about 4 am saturday morning. Slept tell around 10 am got up wife and I went to store shopping and took care of all those type of things tell dinner time. We went out for dinner and then saw a late movie at the theatre (kind of date night). Both of us were tired so went to sleep shortly after getting home. Sunday wife was up before me and was in spare bedroom on computer doing some face book stuff posting pictures, answering email, interacting with family and friends. When I got up started some laundry and ate breakfast while watching the news. Then went into the spare bedroom where wife was and started rubbing her shoulders kissing her neck etc kind of clothed foreplay. She was responding and we were getting pretty hot and heavy so started to make moves to have sex right there in our spare bedroom. The door was closed and locked my daughter (19 college) was still sleeping in her room. My wife says we cant do it in our spare bedroom and I was like ok just going with the flow though it broke the mood a bit. But rather then us just going down hall to our room she goes to the living room turns off the tv then to kitchen turns off coffee maker. Asks me about what had for breakfast. So now I am like ok thought we were going to make love didn't say it but was thinking that. After doing all this she then heads for the bedroom the mood that started in spare room has long since been broken (10-15 min) since left the spare bedroom. But hey I was still all for making love to my wife it has been at least 2 weeks for both of us. So we start back in our bedroom doors locked (hall and bath). Then when we actually start having sex, after more foreplay, she starts complain that her feet are cold. So I stop move the blankets around so her feet are covered. We start again and then she says that hears our daughter awake and stops me again. When I say start and she stop I mean actual penetration not to be graphic but need to understand what mean. After proving that daughter is not awake by getting up and checking hall. We start again and shes back to saying that her feet are cold. Finally just too much of stop and go and now I am just not in the mood and my erection is no longer solid enough to even continue. I am frustrated and not in the mood to begin all over again. This entire process from the spare bedroom tell actual throw hands up and stopping has taken place over a 1.5. Between her distractions and complaining or worrying about daughter might be awake etc it just totally killed the mood. I really am looking for answer to how and talk about this without just really sounding like a ass to my wife. That and not blowing up so at the moment I am here typing so as to keep my cool and not say anything that will just make things worse. Have decided that going to tell my daughter if she ever says anything about hearing us, she has said she heard us making love before. That she can just move out of the house. I am giving her a free room and board w  more

Resolved Question: How is the beginning my story??

It’s official, my phone is toast. The screen screen is entirely blank, covered with tiny droplets of water. And I, powerless over technology, beg god for a second chance. This cannot be happening! That precious piece of metal and wires was my 17th birthday present. When I tore the wrapping paper, I recognized exactly what kind of phone it was. Weeks before, I had taped pictures of the phone to my mom’s everyday appliances, such as her coffee maker. She would groggily waddle downstairs, grab a mug, and observe the picture. I was amazed she didn’t take the picture off until 2 weeks later. Yes, my phone was my best companion, besides my best friend, Poppy. After my mom organized a texting plan, I slowly began to learn how to manipulate the keys. You see, my mom is one of those technological idiots. I wasn’t allowed to get a phone because my mom was afraid I would abuse it and she would not be able to turn it off or check my messages. My family owns only one TV set (Poppy has 7!) and a small computer, for my dad’s job. He’s a writer. Not famous yet, but he’s getting there. He uses a weird pen name; I think its J. Kooper or something. My dad’s always hidden in the study, which barely gives me time to talk with him. Months after I received my full keyboard phone, I became the queen of texting. My phone is always in my pocket, my thumbs eager to stroke the keyboard. That is why I am so devastated now, glaring at my broken cell phone. It’s all Billy Docking’s fault. He was the one who pushed me into the pool. He’s the one who lured me into coming to his party.  more

Resolved Question: Siphon Coffee Maker Help?

Voting Question: Best way to make iced tea with mr coffee iced tea maker?

Ok well I got my mr coffee tea maker a little while ago and never could make good tea with it. I mean, I follow the instructions just the way they say, and it just never turns out right. It just doesn't taste like the tea does in restaurants. The only modification I make is pouring the sugar on the ice prior to turning it on as opposed to putting it in the reservoir as it says. If it isn't too much trouble, if anyone is experienced in making tea with this specific tea maker, please tell me exactly what your steps are and ingredients, etc. Oh and please note: I only have 2 quarts of ice because that's all my fridge can hold so if you wouldn't mind make it for 2 quarts. -.- Thanks  more

Resolved Question: What is the best coffee maker?

I can't seem to get it right when purchasing a coffee maker. I just purchased a Capresse #455 10 cup digital coffee maker/burr grinder combo from Costco. It has a thermos and is supposed to stay hot for hours, but it doesn't even stay hot for 1 hr., and I don't even use the burr grinder (I have a Barista grinder which works just fine, so this is a feature that is not important to me). In the past I've bought Krups, Cuisinart, Braun, all of which tastes bitter. Please HELP me in choosing one.  more

Resolved Question: Why is he acting like this?! GUYS and PSYCHOLOGY gurus opinions needed!?

My ex-boyfriend and I broke up a year ago. It was an extremely messy breakup. We each rejected each other a countless number of times, although I tried harder to be the peace maker and set things right. He didn't want to hear it. The original cut was delivered by myself. It was all absolutely ridiculous, because we both cared for each other. Since then, we've seemed to make peace. He came back into town for Christmas. During this time, we texted a few times and while I was cordial he flirted and teased me very openly. I also saw him and he greeted me with a hug, then when I left he texted me to talk. He didn't have to say anything after I left, but he chose to. During this conversation, he even suggested we get coffee sometime, "if I wanted to." I did not openly flirt back, but simply absorbed his teasing/flirting and responded graciously (smiles, hahaha's) and said I would like to get coffee too. During the same conversation we had over texting after I left from seeing him (this was last Monday), he did not reply to a simple harmless text midway into our conversation. I resent my response later that night and still no response from him. I inquired a couple days later as to whether he got the text. He said he didn't, but his responses to me at this time were short, clipped, like he didn't want to talk. The convo was only a few texts. It was a complete turn around from our other convos. Since then, I haven't heard from him. I wished him a congrats on something on Saturday. No response. I added him on facebook yesterday, and he accepted. I went on to check out his profile, to find I was no longer his friend! He accepted me for a short amount of time, maybe to creep?, then deleted me! I think that's really bizarre. He is slightly new to facebook. Maybe he didn't know I could tell he accepted me at any point? Well I sent him a message about it, just asking what that was about. I wasn't accusing or harsh in any way. Very casual. And he hasn't responded. I know its only been a day, but I know he was on his facebook. Why am I being treated this way all of a sudden? He continues to accept people on his facebook who go to our school, who he doesn't even know that well, especially compared to how well he knows me. He also added my best friend, who he never talked to. She deleted him, and then he added her again. What the hell? I feel like maybe he still has feelings for me, but he wants to push me away? If I don't text him, I can pretty much count on not hearing from him. If he isn't interested in a relationship, then he shouldn't be having any problems with me. I haven't been flirty or overbearing. So what's up guys?! Is he crazy, or am I missing something?! Either way, I'm baffled how he could change all of a sudden like this, when I did nothing to trigger it. Anyone see something I don't? Or have any suggestions? My question is, what the hell is he trying to do?!  more

Resolved Question: Keurig Coffee Brewer and Pods?

My mom wants a single cup coffee maker for christmas, and I was searching around and it seems like the best kind is a keurig. True? Since my mom isn't into any fancy coffees or teas or anything, I was wondering if this system allows other brands of pods to be used in it? I'll use the k-cups as well, but I think she would mainly use the Folger's coffee pods. Any help would be great and let me know if you like this machine! Or, if you'd like to suggest a different brand of brewer, thats good too:) Thanks!  more

Voting Question: Asking for Monetary Gifts for a "Honeymoon Shower"?

I am the maid of honor at my best friend's wedding. She and her fiance have been living together for six years, so they already have all the housewares, towels and appliances that they could possibly need. They also already have a full set of Noritake tableware/china as well as high quality wine glasses. She also has all the lingerie she could need so kinky gifts are kind of out of the question/ The couple is not well-off, and what they have represents what both had before they moved in and also some purchases over the years. I have read about a type of shower called a "honeymoon shower," in which guests give the bride to be things like travel size packs of toiletries, airline gift cards or hotel gift cards; the airline and hotel gift cards are supposedly going to be used to pay for the honeymoon and accomodations. Somehow, I feel that asking for airline gift cards or hotel gift cards is just as tacky as asking for money, however, on the other hand, the gift is certainly practical, will be used, will not be regifted and likely will be more appreciated than a coffee maker or another set of cutlery. This is the bride's first marriage and I would like to make it a really memorable occasion for her. Has anyone ever heard of such a shower (a honeymoon shower) and what would be the best way to approach it? Have the hostess purchase a single gift (that everyone contributes to) or put the explanation in the invitation? Many people have said money is a tacky gift; culturally however, it is appropriate in Asian circles. The bride is Asian.  more

Resolved Question: What is the best Ground Coffee to buy in a bag from a Supermarket? I like Hazelnut Flavored Coffee, Plz help?

Ok I have a big problem. For the past 2 years I have been drinking the Dunkin Donuts Hazelnut Flavored coffee in a bag. You know the one they sell in Supermarkets, the ground coffee in a bag. It was tasting ok for quite a while. You see I add to it the Land O' Lakes fat Free Half and Half and I also add to it a shot of International Delight Hazelnut creamer. Everything was fine till the past 2 months or so when the coffee started tasting not as good. In fact it began to taste bad, plus they changed the Hazelnut International Delight Creamer on me and the new one is not as sweet as the old one and I did complain to that company but they are saying they didn't change the ingredients. I don't know what's going on. I am not getting the same tasting Hazelnut coffee that I used to enjoy and love. I know in the past it tasted wonderful and all but was I doing it incorrectly because the Dunkin Donuts Coffee was already hazelnut flavored but I still was adding the International delight hazelnut creamer to it plus the half and half of Land o' Lakes. I don't like dark coffee. I like light to medium coffee and I am from originally from the East Coast where they had a Dunkin Donut store literally on every street corner but now I live in Arizona and the Dunkin Donuts out here all taste terrible. It must be the water they use I guess. Anyway I am looking to find a great tasting ground coffee that I can buy from the store that is medium preferrably that has hazelnut taste to it but I am gonna need help with what creamers to put in the coffee as well. I use the coffee maker to do the coffee in the morning. You know I even bought the Dunkin Donuts original ground coffee from the store and it didn't taste good at all. I hate starbucks coffee because I find it too too strong. Please help. I need real experts in this field. I need great tasting coffee immediately.  more

Resolved Question: How about some Lawyer jokes?

What kind of clothes do lawyers wear?
Lawsuits. What an amazing lawyer he was. Once he got a jury so confused, they sent the judge to jail. Have you heard about the lawyers' word processor?
No matter what font you select, everything come out in fine print. What are lawyers good for?
They make used car salesmen look good. A big city lawyer was called in on a case between a farmer and the railroad company. A farmer noticed that his prize cow was missing from the field which the railroad passed through. He filed suit against the railroad company for the value of the cow. The case was to be tried before the justice of the peace in the back room of the general store. The attorney immediately cornered the farmer and tried to get him to settle out of court. The lawyer did his best selling job, and the farmer finally agreed to take half of what he was claiming to settle the case.
After the farmer signed the release and took the check, the young lawyer couldn't help but gloat a little over his success. He said to the farmer, "You know, I hate to tell you this but I put one over on you in there. I couldn't have won the case. The engineer was asleep and the fireman was in the caboose when the train went through your farm that morning. I didn't have one witness to put on the stand."
The old farmer replied, "Well, I'll tell you, young feller, I was a little worried about winning that case myself because that durned cow came home this morning!" What's the easiest way to grease a Ferarri?
Run over a lawyer. The highway department came to the scene of the accident where 25 feet of skid marks led up to the skunk. They picked up the first victim and gave him a proper burial, taking pains to notify the family of the tragedy. Of course they had to put clothes pins on their noses and rubber gloves on before they could remove the lawyer. After suffering through years of his wife's awful coffee, the man spat it out and took the coffee maker to his lawyer.
Dropping it on the attorney's desk, the man growled, "Here they are!"
"Here are what?" the startled lawyer asked.
"Grounds for Divorce." What's the difference between lawyers and vultures?
Lawyers accumulate frequent-flier points.  more

Resolved Question: I left a concentrated tea mixture in a wine bottle, and it exploded when I opened it. Can I still drink it?

So two weeks ago, I made this extremely highly concentrated green tea mixture by cutting open 6 teabags, putting the contents into my coffee-maker, and running a total of about 15 liters through it. At first, it was making the tea at a much higher concentration than normal, but as it went on, it became lighter and lighter, until I decided to give up. As I was making it though, I was continuously emptying the glass pot into a large metal pot on the stove, which was kept boiling. After getting the most out of the 6 teabags (15 liters of water later), I continued to boil down the tea until it was only a cup in volume. I also added sugar, to help against the bitterness. Ok, so my theory was, I could either use a teaspoon of this mixture and mix it with a cup of water, and that way instantly make myself a cup of iced tea (that actually worked), or I could down a shot of this stuff to give me a good caffeine boost when I would need it (I'm not sure if this worked when I tried it out last, because I supplemented it with caffeine pills and more tea... and in retrospect, that was a bad idea - I was actually quite high on caffeine). Anyway, so it's been a couple weeks now since I made the mixture. I was storing it in a corked wine bottle in a cupboard. This evening, I take it out, because I think I'm going to be pulling an all-nighter tonight (and here I am procrastinating), but when I remove the cork, it shoots out of the top of the bottle, and a white gas comes flying out of the opening. At this point I'm thinking, "Holy crap! Why is my tea suddenly carbonated?!" I look at the bottle, and I see that the tea foamed up almost all the way to the top (there was only about a cup in there to start with). I pour out the liquid into a glass, and all the foam collapses. Now, I'm trying to figure out what happened. My best guess so far is that bacteria grew and replicated because of the sugar I put into it, and this process created gases. I should also add that the green tea (which is actually black because it's so concentrated) now has a very potent wine smell to it, and it's all I can do to not gulp it down right now. What I really want to know, is do you think I can safely drink this amazing smelling super concentrated tea? And please don't tell me about the negative effects of caffeine, or even consider those as reasons not to drink it. I want to know if I'll get some kind of fatal bacterial infection or something by drinking it. Also, could there be alcoholic fermentation going on here? Basically, I want to know what's in that cup sitting on the counter, begging me to drink it, and if it will kill me. It smells SOOO good. Thanks, Alaric  more

Resolved Question: Advice on how to get over my past roommate situation, so it wont ruin my current one?

Okay, so here's the whole story. A few months ago, my best friend of about 7 years was stressed about her living situation (her mothers restrictions. We were 19) I offered her to move in with me at my mothers (My mom was flexible and I had the big master bedroom). My mom said as long as she paid 200 bucks a month it was fine. I currently paid 300-400(Depending on if she needed more) a month. Suddenly my best friend got fired but I tried to be a good friend and I assured her that I could cover her 200 (I have a full time job) and she wouldn't have to worry about it. She said she would feel bad about it but I finally convinced her (she seemed to be always stressed and I wanted to help) and she agreed to give me a ride to work and back. A month or two later I realized that I was paying about 600 a month and my mom did have some restrictions (The no boys rule. Which sucked because my friends were 90% boys) so I talked to my best friend about moving out. We found the perfect one bedroom for about 650 a month, I told her it was a little much but she agreed to pay 100 a month and I agreed to pay the rest as long as she took me to work and if she could help whenever she could. Our living situation worked out well until the bills started to come, I would ask her how much money she would be willing to put in (just so I could get an estimate of how much I had to find to complete) and she would snap at me. That seemed to be the only time there was tension. On good months she'd pay 150 at the most and I'd pay the rest of the 600 (the rent would be 700 because Id have to pay late, my payday would land on the 5th and rent was due the 1st.) and I would cover electricity and whatever was left would go to some food and my phone. As time went by she would put in less, saying she had to put in late car payments (She would get about 400 a month for unemployment. Her car was 206 a month) So I would have to put in more for rent and less for food. Some days we would go without food and our fridge would be empty. There started to be this tension, with her. I was always cheery and positive and even more so around her because she was always moody and depressing. I let her know I was there for her, and she would just say thanks but never talk to me. The nicer I was to her, the ruder she would be. Sometimes giving me attitude for no reason. It got to be exhausting because I was trying to put in enough positivity for the both of us. I hated coming home because the mood was horrible. One day she texted me after dropping me off from work telling me she was moving out. She said she would give me 100 a month for 3 months-enough time to find someone else. She said "And Im doing that to be nice because I don't owe you anything were even." When I asked how she said "Do you think I pull gas money out of my ass to take you to work, and what about the food I have to bring from my mothers?" I wanted to tell her that we weren't even because I'd been supporting her for months and all she had to do was take me to work, and I had been giving her gas money until she started giving me less money for bills. Slowly she moved her things out (Everything. Because she said we shouldn't move any of my things because she had some stuff, when we moved) She took everything from the coffee maker, microwave, dish rags, utencils, dishes..etc. One day when she came to take the last of her things I walked into the kitchen and asked her for the mail key (We only have one) and she refused to give it to me, saying she had some mail she was waiting for and was still on the lease so she didnt have to give me anything. I got a little mad because I was expecting my debit card and utility bill, so I told her there was no reason for her to have it and we got into an argument that resulted in her saying she'd give it to me on Friday. (It was Wednesday) Friday came and to this day (That was almost 3 weeks ago) she still hasn't given it to me. 2 weeks ago, I had the mail lock changed, therefor getting a new key :) I got a new roommate to move in (my other best friend of 12 years) and things are great. He's got my sense of humor and personality and he was also close friends with my last best friend when everything happened and he knows how it hurt me. The only thing wrong is I find myself pushing him away, always bringing up something my last roommate would do. I freak that whenever there's a misunderstanding he's just gonna pack his things. I freak that our friendship will be ruined too at some point and I know I'm just making things bad myself, on purpose for some reason. How can I get over that whole thing? I thought I was until I recently got bills that my last rommmate said she was paying and turns out she wasn't (over 1000$ in late fees). Has anyone had this happen?  more

Resolved Question: Ground coffee amounts different on different appliances?

So my iced coffee maker is asking for 2-4 heaping TBSP per each quart of iced coffee to be made (this includes water going through and the ice in the container waiting). Then the hot coffee maker says 1 heaping TBSP per cup of water, and then the coffee package says 2 rounded TBSP (so just a tad more than the hot coffee maker) per 6 oz. Would the fact that the coffee is "breakfast brew" be why it needs more? Which is more accurate? Yeah in case it wasn't obvious, I just started drinking...spent a half hour in the store trying to figure out the differences in coffees (I know whole bean is best already)! Resolved Question: Which is better to ay at a funeral.?

Well i'v wrote too things to say at my best friend funeral, heres the link for the first one. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090709075822AAS45TA and here's what else i'v wrote. Kids are rebellious, let's just get that out of the way right now. It doesn't matter what you say, for their comebacks and intelligence out due your own. It doesn't phase them by the volume of your voice, for they can crank their dials a lot fucking louder. And they are not moved by that remote you threw at the glass coffee table, for they've seen crazier shit than your tantrums. No, kids these days are close to indestructible, aside from killing them. Blame it on the rock n' roll. Blame it on the television. Blame it on ourselves. If it weren't for us, their eyes and ears would've never been exposed to such atrocities. Hell, this isn't even from our own doing. It has been brewing and formulated in their own issued heads. Every screamo song has come from their raw throats; growling and roaring like they were trapped in the pits of hell. Like they have endured an extended, and undeserved, amount of suffering. Every chord plucked from the strings of their electric guitars, and every low drone of their added basses, and every pound, clocked, precise beat from their drums working together to create a melancholy grievance has been conjured up by the minds of the adolescents. Blame them. Blame them for blaming you for blaming them. It is all their faults. It is all their doing. Their cohesive thinking has made them unemotional to anything other than pain and confrontation. It has made them invincible to your demands. To your yells. To your violence to all things except for the ones that are the catalyst. Your own children; your own flesh and blood. They have turned their backs on you and have joined their peers in a marathon of moshing and disrespect. It seems that we are powerless. It seems that we have lost control. This is not true. You know how we can resolve this? Take their shit away. Ban their so called "music". Prohibit the images on the screen that influence them for the worst. Burn their noise makers. Let them try to cause a f*cking riot. Thanks, this may not mean alot to you, but as you didn't know Alex you wouldn't get it.. thanks x for those who are saying its too long, its not a normal service, they've asked us too be as thoughtful and long as we could, and to display Alex like we can, and he curses alot  more

Voting Question: HELP! 9 month old twins living with mom NOT working out (continued)?

So, here we are. The best job I could find here was a part-time music teaching job at a Catholic school w/ no insurance. In addition to, I sub in the afternoons, teach voice lessons, sing weddings, teach dance lessons and sell dancewear online. 4 jobs that don't amount to a hill of beans. They're on Medicaid for 3 more months, go to subsidized day care with all the drug dealers kids, and I finally broke down and went to WIC when they started consuming a can of formula a day in addition to my breastfeeding. My mom begs us not to leave, and I am eternally grateful that she wants us here. She is still very depressed. Most of the time, she is unbearable to live with as she manifests it with anger rather than sadness. Days go by and she cannot say a nice, positive thing about anything or anyone. She interrupts people and always goes on about how horrible her life is. It is starting to drain me. I can't leave as much as the formula can on the counter, while her stuff is everywhere. This a.m., she put the coffee maker away b4 I even got a chance to use it saying that she couldn't keep her house clean. I got a Roomba to free up some time, but all she does is complain that it doesn't do good enough and now feels compelled to vacuum everyday.I still vacuum w/ the regular one at least 2 times a week It is simply a battle of wills. I don't really live here for free, as I teach dance for her for free in exchange for living here. I pay the water and cable. She is very good not to give unsolicited advice about child-rearing, but I ask alot b/c she has a lot to offer. But it's the other stupid little things that she constantly has to pick on me about and always has. (Clothes, weight, etc. I think that's why I fell for their father b/c he accepted me for who I was) I feel more like their loser big sister than their mother and it's really starting to get to me to the point of totally withdrawing from anyone but them. I guess my question is: should I find a job elsewhere and move? Vegas is too far now that I've come to my senses and due to the economy, they had to cut way back at my previous job, so I'm sure that offer doesn't still stand) There are plenty of good-paying teaching jobs in bigger cities about 3 hours away. I'd take them to a nice day care, do my 1! job, pick them up and come home. Just seeing that in writing looks so nice. Or I can stay here and wait for something full-time to open up, never be able to afford to live on our own in the meantime, continue to get help from the government, just for the sake of not leaving her or uprooting them. My dad won't even co-sign for me on a bigger car as my stroller doesn't fit in mine, but yet was so thankful that we were here for his birthday the other night. We were the only one's present. He feels like I need to learn how to live on my own. He's gotten me 3 presents that I can think of in my entire life while he goes and blows money on condos in foreign countries and other cities. My mom completely supported us and he'd give her food money when he felt like it. I totally understand that he wants me to succeed, BUT I WAS DOING GREAT UNTIL I CAME BACK HERE!!! He is 70 and it won't be long that he'd going to need someone to take care of him. My other brother won't come near here, so it'll be me. I just don't know about being a single mother of 9 month olds somewhere where I have no one. I know this jarbled mess, but I just had to get it out. Thanks.  more

Resolved Question: What's the best type of coffee maker for brewing Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee?

I just brought back some blue mountain coffee from Jamaica. I had read diff types of cofee makers are more suitable for different types of coffees. Which would be best for blue mountian? Also another quick question. I have one small coffee maker that makes maybe 4 cups at most, its a mesh screen instead of a filter and there is no hole in the bottom for coffe to trip through only the sides are mesh. My other coffee maker is large and takes cone shaped paper filters. I find the smaller one brews a weaker cup of coffee. Resolved Question: Need help with my plot?

I need help with how the story is gonna go and some of the major details. It's about a single father, with two young daughters (10 and 5). The 10 year old is a bit of a trouble maker, and is growing up fast; already having her first boyfriend, while the 5 year old is a daddy's girl and barely gets in trouble. The father is a strict successful lawyer who want's the best for his kids. Should I make this story coming from multiple point of views. And should there be a twist if any? That's it I don't know where to go from there. I'm stuck. I've been thinking about this story for quite a while now and I'm no where. I was thinking that the daugthers and some of this friends at the law firm should deny his love thinking it will be like his old wife (he's a single father because his wife married him for money and then cheated on him for a top surgeon. The mother left when the daughters were 7 and 2. Since then he hasn't fallen in love scared to be heart broken again), but then again should the daughters be happy, or jealous that there will be another woman to get his attention? This woman is from East L.A. (the bad side of town) She is a waitress at a diner and he meets her when getting coffee with a friend. And why would his friends and daugthers deny her? At the end I know I want his daugthers to accept her and I want the oldest daughter to feel more comfortable around her father. All this I am so confused about. Can you help me and maybe I could develop some type of plot? Thank you so much.  more

Resolved Question: Why are rich people so selfish?

I'm 23, couldn't go to college because I had to take care of my family (not one I started, lazy parents who wouldn't take care of my siblings) and now all I can do is work my ass off at the mall for next to no money. Did you know that in Pa, where I live, minimum wage pays about 5.15 an hour after taxes? That isn't near enough to live off of, much less get ahead. And the thing that frustrates me is that I'm extremely talented in many areas, but no one will hire an artist who didn't go to school, even if he's flat out better than one who did. And the promotions at work go not to the hardest worker, but the one who can stay late because they don't take the bus and dress in expensive clothes because they can afford it. I will have to continue to work myself almost to death and continue missing out on my best years and the first years of my daughters life working 60 hours weeks just to have a tiny chance to make it to middle class. You rich folks don't understand how hard it is, I'm not lazy and If i had what you toss away in a month on coffee and cigarettes, I could turn my life around and make it something to remember. By the way, I can't even afford a coffee maker. So the question is this: Why are all rich people so selfish? Why do you bitch about having to pay for food stamps instead of doing something to help the poor get out of the hole and not need government money any more? We're not ALL lazy. You can't go to school when you work 60 hours a week and still can barely afford a tiny apartment that's falling apart and nothing else. I don't have a car or the time or money to go to school, I can't get loans even because my credit has taken so many small hits. It's things like that rich people don't understand, they just think we're lazy and stupid.  more

So I've been using this $35 Kontakt ( from Starbucks ) drip coffee maker for a number of years and not getting much satisfaction from it. ... It seems that the best coffee is made with water that's 195-200 degrees. Some experts say 203....And like other reviewers have said before, you wonder how it can make such good tasting coffee with such a simple machine. ... If you want the best coffee you've ever tasted at home, I highly recommend this machine....But always use filtered ( not distilled though ) water to make your coffee, for the best flavor....Another feature of this machine is that it makes the coffee in what the experts consider the perfect amount of brewing time too, which is around three and a half m inutes for the entire brew cycle. ... Well let me tell you that this is the very best coffee I've ever had in my life, that was brewed at home.... more

Black & Decker CBM210 Stainless Steel Burr Coffee Mill/Grinder

I’m not a coffee expert, but I just wanted to be able to buy whole beans so that my coffee would stay fresher longer, thus I needed a grinder. Nearly worthless. ... A coffee aficionado friend who roasts his own coffee once told me that for uniformity of ground size, mill grinders generally were considered best, followed by burr g rinders, then blade ones. HORRIBLE MESS!!! If I could give negative stars, I would....This grinder looks good, but most coffee fans don’t want coarse grounds coming out of an aesthetically pleasing machine. Worst coffee grinder i have ever owned. ... You will get a more even grind from shooting your coffee beans with a shotgun. Do not buy this coffee maker!... more
